I tried local craft stores, hardware stores and ebay but none helped. The first two didn't have it and ebay was too expensive b/c it was cut up for bird toys and over priced.

These are name brands in the 4 ton 6 dollar range, I have painted on metal, plastic etc and I do get a bright gold effect but not the way the cap shows your refection. I have tried to polish with bad results. I have tried multiable coats with no increase in reflectivity. I have clear coated and used alternating layers of paint and clear coat with no reflectivity increase. The caps are clear plastic and then the paint appears to be over the plastic and can be scratched off. Any suggestions before I talk to the help lines of the paint makers? I tried the "chrome" paint and it works so so and then tried the gold over the chrome and no reflectivity.

I want to make my own silk (artificial) flowers for hair clips. What are some good websites? Pre-made flowers are ok, but I'm looking for petals, leaves and other flower parts too. I am especially looking for black flower parts. I have tried search engines already, but have not found what I am looking for yet, I was hoping someone might know of some great obscure craft/floral websites.

I want to make molds and casts of things, however I do not want to spend money on silicon rubber and other types of casting puddies. Are there any materials I have laying around my house that I can pour to make molds? I don't want to use Jell-O because it needs to be semi durable.

Thanks

I have mulitple neopolitan angels and a nativity scene. The finish on the clothing is fabric (not paper) but is finished off and feels like paper mache. What is the term used for this treatment of fabric?

I have a few different prints of fabric at home. I am wanting to cut out the part of the prints I want. I would like to make them into a patch so I can spice up some of my kids clothes with them. I am wondering what I will need to turn the fabric into an iron on patch? Will I be able to get this or these items at Walmart? Please help me. Not sure if I said it or not but I am wanting them to be iron on patches.

I'm doing a project for school in which I use paper mache.
I'm creating "mash" out of mashed up newspapers soaked in water overnight and then draining it. I'm going to use it to create a sculpture thing.

But the problem is, the ink in the paper made the mash all gray because it was dilluted overnight.

So I read in a "How To Do Paper Mache" book, that you could just add "whiting" to make the mash bright white and porcelain-like looking.

I was wondering where I could get this. I know pure whiting is made of calcium carbonate. So could I just go to my drive way and pick up some crushed shells and crush them up into powder form? Because thats what their shells are made of.

Should I do that, or go out and buy some?
I don't want to waste money when what I'm looking for is in my front yard.

Money is super tight this holliday season and I would like to still be able to get nice gifts for my VERY LARGE family.
I'm fairly crafty, so if the idea is to make something, that's ok as long as it's not too expensive to buy the needed items or too complicated. I cook great, so it could be baked goods or pies or something. And I have some new photos from a portrait studio of my 2 kids (I just had a son in Sept.) so I thought about framed pics as a gift. Is that tacky?

Anyway...any ideas you have or websites you can give for info would be great. Also, I need tips on packaging the stuff to look pretty. I'm really bad at that.

To give you an idea of what kind of cash I'll be working with, I'll probably be able to come up with 200-300 bucks between now and Christmas and I'm shopping for 10-15 people.

Thank you in advance!
