Where can I buy vegetable tanned leather lace spools super cheap?

I tried local craft stores, hardware stores and ebay but none helped. The first two didn't have it and ebay was too expensive b/c it was cut up for bird toys and over priced.

Leather lace of good quality never comes super cheap.

I think your best bet is trying to buy it from someone who started using it but stopped his/her hobby.
There is Craiglist, a selling site that is organized by location, so you can search near home before you go all the way across the country, may save on postage.

Or you can try to contact one of the sites where leather braiders go, and ask there.
