I am interested in starting to quilt. Having never quilted before, and having no one in the family that does quilt, it is difficult to figure out how to get started and the process. I know there are tons of books at Hobby Lobby and other stores on quilting. Also, that I can get stencils and most material I need at these places. I still have several questions though.
1. What are the best informational books/ websites for beginners? If it is a book app. how much will it cost?
2. Is it easier to do the quilting design by hand or machine?
3. Is basting spray or stiching better?
4. How much do the normal tools cost? IE rotary cutter and board, special feet for the sewing machine. (I know I am getting a new machine but i don't know what feet are coming with it.)
5. What is the best fabric for the backing?

If there is any other helpful hints or information that you can come up with that is great!

the snowman is heavy and sparkles like real snow, it can be knocked around and doesn't break, but looks like it is made out of paper and maybe plaster of paris? i have tried newspaper, starch, flour, water, paint, etc.
the closest i can get to it is newsprint paper and plaster of paris, but i still can't get the correct mix.

I've been making these adorable little plushies the past few days. Everyone else seems to like them, so I've had this idea that maybe I could sell them? I wanted some opinions from people I didn't know.

They are handmade with fleece, thread, and stuffing. The smallest is about 3x7", the square one is about 6"x7", and the others are roughly 4.5"x9".

Could you please tell me:
1] Do you like them?
2] Do you have a favourite?
3] Would you buy one, or do you knsomeone who would?
4] How much do you think would be a good price?

Thank you for your comments!

I have one 1945, one 1951 and tqo 1957 wheat pennies and I'm just curious about what they're worth, if anything.

I collect (for the hell of it) older pennies and came by these wheat pennies.

I know it's nothing big or great to big time/hard core collectors, but it keeps me busy.

So far I have pennies from the following years;

1979, 1978, 1977, 1976, 1975, 1974, 1973, 1972, 1971, 1970, 1969, 1968, 1967, 1966, 1965, 1964, 1963, 1962, 1961, 1960, 1959.

Does any one have creative ideas for what to do with all those Christmas cards and letters after the holidays? Seems like such a waste to just trash them. Same thing with the pictures people send. Creative thoughts?
