i bought some whole milk for my daughter and i tried it just to see cause i've never had it before and it was so gross! it smelled like milk and doesn't expire til aug.30 was it just me or was it bad? i didnt give it to her by the way.

The hormel dried beef in a glass jar is supposed to be refrigerated after opening. I've had this jar for at least a month probably two months (opened, in the fridge). My boyfriend's mom keeps hers for quite a while (she does not believe in food poisoning)...however, i read that dried beef should be used within a week or so. I suppose this is right, but with all the preservatives...isn't it like beef jerky? I want to make chipped beef with it.....

I'm watching GOOD EATS and Alton Brown says that the San Fransisco sourdough yeast can be found wild in the Bay Area . Is this true? Can one collect wild SF yeast as far south as San Jose?

I've been reading about them, so I know they exist and are not the same thing as blackberries. Here's a photo at Wikipedia:

My husband just got a charcoal grill for his birthday. We've grilled beef/chicken fajitas, burgers and hot dogs....we're looking for something else! I think we'll be trying corn-- but what else to grill? How to grill it??? Thanks! Oh and no high dollar steaks, reasonable priced meats, and veggies only please :D Thanks in advance

My husband bought me a really nice huge cast iron skillet. It came pre-seasoned from Lodge. But even despite out reseasoning, it keeps flaking, and today I've discovered it's rusted on the outside.

I don't get it. I've seasoned unseasoned cast iron before and they're great. I know to keep them dry, not use soap, etc.

So I guess, why did it rust, and how do I fix it?

My boss is trying to get me to re-use the marinade for chicken for 3 weeks and I KNOW it is totally unsafe but need to be able to prove it to her. Can someone please help me find a site (preferably a government one) that says very clearly that this is not an accepted practise. Something from Canada would be the best.
