I think Eric S is correct. It does contain a certain amount of salt in it...the reason being that when you exert yourself your mouth sometimes becomes really *really* dry. The salt is included in order to make you kind of thirsty so you'll start producing your own saliva again. I don't think they intend to make you 10x thirstier. Maybe you should try a different flavor - especially if you drink the orange, red, or yellow color. Try the blue or purple.

On a side note - when I was an avid runner, I used to chew this gum that was called "Thirst Quench" and it was really sour. The more I chewed, the more bitter it became; it stimulated my taste buds and kept me producing quite a bit of saliva. My mouth never got dry! :-)

never happens to me, it always quenches my thirst, but I am ridiculously thirsty when I drink it, like after a practice or something, and I really only drink it cause I nearly addicted to juice which is like 100% sugar so I try and stick to something better for me

If I'm just a little thirsty, I go for the water, and I suggest you do it too

thats because it has types of salts in it. it restores minerals that you lose during activity, but if you are just drinking a lot of it when your not doing much it can dehydrate you too.
