they're the same thing. the hot chicken wing was invented in buffalo, which is why they're often referred to as 'buffalo wings.' but, i don't care what anyone says, unless you're in western new york, you just aren't getting the real thing my friend. trust me. i've had chicken wings in other parts of the country that use flour and are baked, but buffalo wings are deep fried and doused in a mixture of hot sauce and butter. if you want to know more, google "the anchor bar." that's the restaurant that originated the wings. hope that helps!

There is no difference that I could tell... hot wings and buffalo wings are the same thing. I think it's just someone trying to be different and unique.
Traditionally, buffalo wings were cooked (deep fried) without flour.
However, I've seen restaurants use flour on their buffalo wings... so the name really can't help you. You just need to ask the restaurant how they make their wings.

No difference really. Real wings dont use flour. Period. All the other stuff is a knock off!
When I make my wings, I sale ant pepper them, sometimes I'll put a little garlic power on them, then deep fry them. I like to overcook them a little.
For the sauce, Frank's is supposedly the original, but I use Crystal Hot. Melt some butter, put in the Crystal and a shot of red vinegar. Then marinade the wings in there for a few minutes.
Now I have to get some wings!

The "original" buffalo wings, as created at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, were unbreaded and unfloured. The were deep fried, then covered in a mixture of butter and hot sauce.
"Hot wings" can be buffalo wings or they can be those which are battered or floured and baked or fried.
