Our friend used to enjoy undiluted Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, but since recent surgery, has found that the best way to enjoy a full-bodied wine is to mix the wine 50/50 with sparkling water. He has to pace himself and doesn't mind sipping it slowly like this in a diluted form. As he says, it was good enough for the Romans! Yeah, he's heard all the jokes, but that's how he likes to drink it. Is there a quicker way to order a red spritzer made with Chilean wine?
We've all found that it's confusing to order this, and generally ask for a sparkling water plus a Chilean wine separately.
("which brand, how many bubbles, are you sure you don't want lemon or ice?")
Do bar staff have a name for this long drink? It would be good if we knew how to ask for our order properly, & would save time! We are pretty bored with hearing the guy behind shouting that we should give him a whiskey or JD instead, because it's "standard". People are not standard issue!
