Why do people ask others to tap the bottom of the bottle when you drink?

it's a form of respect. tapping the bottom means that you are down with them, but not necessarily means that you are or have to drink with them. it's an unwritten rule/code in the streets when hanging out with hommies/friends. only hoodrats understand. i/we do it everytime hanging out.
