It sounds like a dehydration issue. Are you drinking enough water through out the day? Dehydration can cause fatigue. Also, do you load your coffee with sugar or creamer (which contains sugar)? If so, it could be the fall from a sugar high that your experiencing. Or maybe a combo of dehydration and the excess sugar? I have to remind myself all the time, Starbucks coffee is not water! LOL Try drinking more water, like 8-10, 8oz glasses and see if that helps.

Caffeine is very addicting for me. The verdict is not in on whether the helpful features outweigh the negative ones. I have experienced what you are experiencing. When I am not having an active day, I find I need to imbibe throughout the day. When the drag comes on - I have a cup. And I make instant coffee and sometimes I make it very strong. I believe I would need an exercise regimen to get off of it and stay off of it. I have not made this commitment as of tonight. I think I would be a steadier person if I knew I did not need this alert type of high every day - and throughout the day. When I hear that in some ways it is good for you, that sets me way back - and the making of the commitment seems years away. I plan to have a cup before answering my next question.

I don't think so. I've been drinking coffee for a long time and I've never noticed that. But different strokes for different folks, people are not the same. Everyone does have a slump as you call it though, or at least most people. It usually happens about the same time everyday. You could try mental stimulation, such as being with people or doing something interesting and see if you are still in the slump.

I believe it does. I think maybe it turns into a "comfort" thing. It does for me. When I am like ready for a break I'll go chill out with some coffee and it gets me kind of tired. At least it is good for you.

I am the same way! I know of others too who can drink it at night and go right to sleep. My dad had a cup before bed, he swore by it. There must be a reverse caffeine effect for some of us!

At this point for me, it's like a heroin addiction. I miss it a lot if it's not there, and drinking it just normalizes me for the morning.

Coffee inhibits you from feeling tired. You can still be tired though.
