Yea in the late 1800s and the turn of the century. It was used as medicine though and people decided it tasted really good. So they figured out how to make it without it getting you a little high when drunk. ;)

yes it was, the original recipe was exactly like it is now but with Cocaine in it. Like it tasted the same... but you would get high off of drinking it!
