I have put my birthday planning in the hands of my friends and, if my newly formed ulcer is any indication, I am scared that it'll be a disaster. Can anyone give me some ideas for a quick Asain themed party so, if they do forget, I can run to the store and fix everything.

The party will probably be in March, so it's unlikely to be outside. I am considering asking guests to bring their favorite American foods, but need other ideas too. I am on a tight budget so need to do this as cost effectively as possible!

Thanks!

Yesterday I asked about what to take to a potluck and many people said bring a cold salad. The host is already making a salad, so I was thinking a fruit salad and perhaps set it up in disposable cups so it looks presentable. Here's the catch: the host told me to bring a side dish and another guest is already bringing a cake as a dessert. Can fruit salad be counted as a side dish and a dessert, or should I pick something else?

I would like to have a small elegant cocktail reception after my ceremony. I am looking for an intimate, classy venue either in NYC or the surrounding boroughs. Any suggestions would be a HUGE help.

I've thought about making a pineapple rosemary glazed ham, and wanted to have one or two sides. Any recipes? Any cool rice ideas? Or potato ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

about this and wanted everything to be perfect. At the very last minute, she realized that she didn't have any snails for the dinner party, so she asked her husband to run down to the beach with the bucket to gather some snails. Very grudgingly he agreed.
He took the bucket, walked out the door, down the steps, and out to the beach. As he was collecting the snails , he noticed a beautiful woman strolling alongside the water just a little further down the beach.
He kept thinking to himself, "Wouldn't it be great if she would even just come down and talk to me?" He went back to gathering the snails.
All of a sudden he looked up, and the beautiful woman was standing right over him. They started talking and she invited him back to her place. They ended up spending the night together. At seven o'clock the next morning he woke up and exclaimed, "Oh no!!! My wife's dinner party!!!"
He gathered all his clothes, put them on real fast, grabbed his bucket, and ran out the door. He ran down the beach all the way to his apartment. He ran up the stairs of his apartment.
He was in such a hurry that when he got to the top of the stairs, he dropped the bucket of snails. There were snails all down the stairs.
The door opened just then, with a very angry wife standing in the door way wondering where he's been all this time.
He looked at the snails all down the steps, then he looked at her, then back at the snails and said, "Come on guys, we're almost there!!"
