Here is a list of ideas: pizza, hot wings, chips, a veggie tray with dip, finger desserts, a cheese tray, a sub sandwich tray, mini quiches, a cheese fondue station with veggies, bread, and other things that go good with hot cheese, a chocolate fountain with fruit, graham crackers, cheesecake bites, marshmallows and whatever else goes good with chocolate, a mexican layer dip made with beans, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole, little BBQ smokies, meatballs, and the list is endless! Have fun!!!

I like the pizza suggestion, but take it one step further--make it part of the fun.
Buy a bunch of mini-pizza crusts and 6 or so toppings (in addition to sauce and mozzarella) and let everyone make their own pizza. Set up a pizza bar on the counter. Have several cookie sheets ready for guests to put their finished pizzas on. Then pop it in the oven for 15 minutes and you're done.
You could also buy some frozen garlic breadsticks and/or cheese sticks from Sam's and set out bowls of marina sauce to go with the pizzas.
Frozen drinks are always a hit--try making a pitcher of frozen pina coladas or strawberry daquiris WITHOUT the alcohol of course. :)
And, have fun!

It depends on what time of day and what kind of party. If people are just coming and going, you only need appetizers. But if it is around meal time, and/or they will be there for a while, you will need something more substantial. For that case, I would recommend sloppy joes, they are simple and easy, and everyone likes them. To keep people mingling and talking, you should have some smaller and easy to eat items. A tray

Cheddar triscuits these are soooo good!! I had these at my Christmas Eve party they were the talk of the evening. Put some Ham salad spread on top and serve. Also, we used chicken salad spread too. Also, you can go to subway and get a sandwhich sub ring. call them they will tell you all about it.

Do chips and dip, small sandwiches, like ham or turkey and cheese on bread with the crust cut off, or pizza, sloppy joes, hot dogs, soda. ice cream, or popcicles, or something simple for dessert. Just don't have ANYTHING in the house with peanuts in it. Have fun.

FINGER FOODS are best: buffalo and bbq wings, mini eggrolls, sandwich wraps, chips, dips, pasta salad, meatballs in sauce, cocktail weiners, mini sub sandwiches, mini pizzas, sparkling apple or grape juice, soda, tuna and chicken salad with crackers, deviled eggs, and assorted desserts like cakes, brownies, and cookies. Happy New Year!
