I'll be pouring four types of wine for 350 guests at a New Year's Eve wedding reception and dinner. Any special tips for doing this properly?

I watched a TV program on this just the other day. The most important factor they pointed out was using the correct type of glass for the wine. The woman indicated that the wine would not taste right in the wrong wine glass and she explained and demonstrated why. The right shape of glass for the wine directs the wine to the correct part of your mouth so that you experience the correct taste.

Some wines - certain red wines - need to be poured through a tube or small funnel so that the wine runs down the side of the wine glass to inhibit aeration.

Bubbly wine must be poured into a tall narrow glass to preserve the bubbles.

These links contain much of the information that was discussed in this program. It was quite interesting. I hope this helps.

You pour wine from right to left if you're using the right hand, never use the right hand and pour to the right, it supposed be an insult (very old rule)

All wine bottles have a "hole" (depression) at the bottom. Put your thumb in there and you will do fine.
