Hi, My son's birthday is coming up and I am looking for some creative alternative to cake cutting. Not that I am against this Western practice, but I don't see the point in cutting a cake on a Birthday. Can anyone suggest an alternative?
Thanks,
A Dad!!

If the cops bust a party with a lot of people and a lot of minors, will they most likely just give tickets to the minors rather than arrest them all?

I've been thinking about hosting a "You Tube" theme party.
I plan to set up a screen projector, and ask all my friends to to present their two favorite you tube clips.
I plan to do this in the living room.

I'm going to an old friend's house (whom I haven't seen in 5 years) for a reunion. It's more like a brew party since the old friend likes to make beer as a hobby. I was thinking wine or nice chocolates. Any suggestions for decently priced wine or any other gifts? Thanks.

I know that may sound strange, but a friend is making roasted pears with an almond stuffing. She's also making the cake. Put your thinking caps on now and come up with something that would go with the pears. They're really close friends so it doesn't have to be over the top, just really good.

I am cooking a tur-duc-hen and my oven has options for both convection and conventional baking methods. Convection holds more moisture, but I've read that if I am using a deep pan, the convection option is inefficient.

I'm throwing a nerd themed birthday party - can you give me some ideas, please?

I have the following ideas:
- guests dress up nerdy and I will be giving out awards for different nerd catergories (geekiest, best she-nerd, etc)
- my son will dress up with suspenders and have his hair done up like Alfalfa, maybe with some high water pants and loafers
- I am going to wear icy blue eye shadow, bright pink lip stick, roll down socks...

Guests will have "Nerds" candy, scones (cone-shaped corn chips)

What other ideas do you have please?? Many thanks in advance!
