What type of dessert would you bring to a funeral? It's for the after gathering. The deceased lived a long (102!), loving, amazing life so it won't be a somber occasion. The gathering will be at about 11:00 am.

My husband and I are closing on a new house in 6 weeks. My friends are party animals and our housewarming party (which mind you the date hasn't been set) is becoming the event of the year. My co-workers whom I'm not close with but know about the home since I have had to take some days off for walk-thrus etc have been hinting about the party as well. I really don't want to have to spend a lot on food etc obviously closing on a rather large home has set my husband and I back for a while.
My questions are whom should be invited to the housewarming party and having just cocktails at the housewarming with say finger foods is that appropriate?

We are having a Lenten Series at our church, and afterwards having potluck. We would like to come up with different "themes" for them, so they aren't all the same. I am having a hard time with them, the only one I can think of is "around the world" and that seems to be used a lot. Any ideas?

A co-worker who I'm friendly with sent out an email invitation to several people in my department for a barbecue she's having at her house. I am kind of seeing another person in our department- would it be rude if I brought him with me? She knows him.
