I would say yes, as long as you realize that you aren't getting a professional-grade one like a caterer would use. Even if you only use it a couple times, it's not that much money, and it's waaaaay cheaper than renting one from a caterer. It'll make a fun and easy dessert centerpiece for parties.

I went to this reallly upscale, fancy fondue place that's extremely popular in California. It tastes SO good if you have bite size snickers (for the ultimate chocolate feigns), bite-size rice krispy treat balls, plain cookies that aren't too sweet taste delicious too, and salt-free pretzels (salted tastes good too, but not as good). They also had bite size unfrosted cake like pound cake. Sooo good! mmm mm MMM! If you add a tiny bit of flavored liquor in the chocolate like Francesco or Kahlua or coconut rum, it's awesome too. That's how they did it at the fondue place and it made everything taste even more exotic than it already did dipped in regular chocolate. It actually tastes pretty good with crisp green apples, pineapples, mandarin oranges and banana slices too. Oddly, my bf and I both thought the crisp green apple slices tasted the best. I thought it was going to be gross but it wasn't bad at all. Problem is bananas and apples turn yellow quickly so it might be a bad idea unless you can cut and serve them immediately. Oh and I think it should have its own table. That way the beautiful cake can be in the spotlight, but same as the chocolate fountain. But next to each other if the tables very big. That way some chocolate feigns could dip their cake in a bit of chocolate if they wanted haha Congratulations on the wedding!

seriously, how many times will you use it? if the answer is a lot just because you think they are fun or for several upcomming parties.. then yes.
if you just want one for one single event.. rent one
if you want it to have for a catering business or for professional reasons.. buy a better one.

I'm told the cheaper versions tend to break easily.
