I invited a few freinds around for my birthday dinner. I have taken this option because I love cooking and entertaining in general. I dont see it as a task.

This is the menu I have come up with - does it look ok?

Entrée:
Mussels done in white wine, chilli, garlic and lemongrass
Warm brushcetta of tomato, zucchini and eggplant

Main:
Butterfly leg of lamb studded with garlic and rosemary
Asparagus
Baked potatoes with lemon, garlic and thyme

Dessert:

Frangelico spiked tiramisu
Red wine poached pears
Homemade clotted cream vanilla ice-cream (if I get the ice cream maker I want before then!)

It's my 22nd birthday in a week, and I'm having a pink and black themed party. I'm planning on giving out goodie bag to everyone before we leave for the bar. So far I've planned on putting in some noise makers, pink and black mardi gras beads and if I can find theme, some cheap shot glasses. I don't want to spend too much money, but I want them to be cool. Advice?

I bought a couple cases of Mountain Creek (or something like that) for $6 a case.

I also have some Alaskan Amber & Sam Adams.

Most of my friends are freeloaders and I don't think that they deserve any of my good beer.

I recently went to Florida and had my first ever black and white cookie! I loved it. They do not sell them here in Indiana. Who supplies the cookies to starbucks? I want to see if they have an online store. If you work for starbucks in Palm Beach Florida...let me know who supplies your cookies.

1st,

My party will be of mixed company - co-workers, family, friends, current & ex bosses, black ,white, young old. How do I manage this???

2nd... I wanted to have a BBQ, but can't BBQ (ok, I could and done so before)and I don't own a grill- & don't want to buy 1 for 1x. A cousin told me not to have it catered, b/c it defeats the purpose (if I can go all out, no use in having a registry - skip the party and buy my own stuff - her words, not mine). So if it's not BBQ, would like red beans & rice, jambalaya, chicken wings, finger sandwiches, fruit trays, baked mac and cheexe, rum punch and some other booze do?

2nd - what type of entertainment? Music? Maybe I should save the hip hop for later - and just mix it, or mix old school, pop, and hip hop that's clean (I don't do shoot em up stuff - mostly party & old school). Do you play games- if so, like dominoes, spades, taboo, etc?
I need to rent tables and chairs, too... Oh dear... $300-400 is the budget... that's it.

My friends' mom told me and my gf to come over to her house last friday for a surprise party for her daughter. When we arrived, we were asked to unfold chairs, put plates on tables, and even move heavy furniture! Are guests expected to help set up for events or is it rude to ask favors from the people you invite to a party?

We are having a party with 12 kids at a local kids activity center. The party is going to be from 11a-1p. The kids will doing activities for an hour and a half and have the party for the other 30 mins. Should I have sandwiches or snacks for the parents and kids in addition to the cake? Since we don't have much time to each and open presents I am torn between providing food and not. If I should provide more than just cake what should I provide? Something that does not require heating up, because they don't have any kitchen facilities at the activity center.

Any suggestions? A single mom is needing help planning for a wedding rehersal dinner within a modest budget? Not only would there be the wedding party, but several out-of-town guests. What ideas do you have that would keep the event non-stressful, yet tasteful?

in 2 weeks my husband and I are inviting a few couples to a restaurant to celebrate his promotion from captian to Major in the airforce. We're paying for everything, including drinks. is this something people bring gifts to? and I ONLY ASK cos a friend mentioned she was looking for a gift.
Also, any ideas on how to make it really air force themed? like put a toy f 15 on a cake or something?

My sweet 16 is coming up in April and I can't decide how I should celebrate. The usual party with a band or a dj doesn't seem to go over too well with my friends so I was thinking of doing something more unique. Any ideas?

I'm just going to put together a bunch of Appetizers. No one's going to want to eat a large meal with beer anyways. So far, I'm making:

-Wings
-Deviled Eggs
-Kraut/Sausage Balls
-Chex Mix
-Cheese Ball with Butter Crackers

Anyone have anything to add that would compliment? I feel like I'm missing something. Recipes and links appreciated. Thanks!!!
