We are serving some baked goods (cookies, etc.), and I am making baked custard. Will the custard be enough, or should we serve it with a sauce?

Baked custard is so yummy, I think that some fresh sliced strawberries or caramel sauce would make it really special, though.

You don't say how many people will be there, nor how much desert you have made. Custard isn't very filling so you might want to add the sauce and maybe whipped cream?
