Well, you can check into a lot of options. If he is into Old West stuff, then there are a lot of entertainers throughout the country that hire out. My wife and I do shows based on the old Wild West shows. Whip cracking and target shooting. We are on the cheaper side, but would be under that price. Other than that look for magicians in your area. Hypnotists are always fun. Comedians. Seeing as how we don't know what he likes it is hard for us to say.

check with the local high school music department, im sure there are some local bands that play good music. Check them out. also check with the colleges in your area or the local pubs and taverns to see if they know of local cheap bands. These guys ( and girls) are looking for exposure and usually are willing to play for a reasonable price. You also can check with the senior center, they always have games for the members to play, maybe you can rent or borrow the games,and have game night. Games from his childhood. twister. simon, monopoly, etc.
good luck and just remember no matter how plain or fancy it is, as long as you have good food and a place for everyone to mingle it will be a great party !

Hire a DJ rent a room print out flyers and charge for admission like a club .....have a party and make some money too!!!
