Proper edicate is always ask your host, inviting someone who's not expected can sometimes put a strain on limited food.
My husband and I use to throw BBQ Parties all the time and since we arn't rich we would always have an RSVP so we could estimate how much food was needed and what we could afford to buy to feed everyone we knew was coming.

Usually there will be a RSVP on the invitation. If there is nothing, it would be OK to bring a friend as long as the persons party gets along with this person. If someone is dating a person it is OK but if you just started seeing him, I would not invite him. You can also ask her if you could bring a friend

If he wasn't directly invited by her, or did not address the email to "You and Guest" or direct the invitees they coudl bring a guest, then no, dont' bring him. It would be rude.
If you know her really well, you coudl probably ask fi you could bring a guest and a side dish. :-)
And depending upon your place of work, you may not want to reveal you are seeing a coworker. It may be best kept quiet.

Just e mail and ask her. Although, ask your self why he was not invited to begin with. Usually a barbeque invite is open to bring a date or guest, it would be wierd to make people come alone, but it's always best just to ask. Have fun.

Check with her, it wouldn't hurt to ask if you can. And it would be far better for everyone if she did know (so she can adjust any food requirements, like adding a couple of extra hotdogs or more Barbeque or whatever).
It also allows you to know better if he would be welcome. You may like him but maybe not everyone does (and there may even be someone who hates him, or maybe he dated someone else in the past who'll be there and you didn't know yet), and that can get uncomfortable. Better you don't bring him if that may be the case, but the one who did the inviting may know better (so check with her).

not unless he is specifically invted.
the host has the right to include or exclude whomever he/she wishes.
yes, it would be in very bad taste to bring an uninvited guest with you.
it is also rude to contact the host and ask if the uninvited person may come.
that puts the host in an untenable position.

The only way to know for sure is to ask her. I guess showing up with anyone before asking would be rude, but letting her know in advance would clear everything up. Happy eatin'!

the best way to find out is ask the host of the party if you can bring a guest.

Check in with her first in case she is planning on a limited number of guests. Have a good time!
