I want to cook and can my own spaghetti. Not just the sauce, the finished product. The spaghetti, the meatballs and the sauce. I want to be able to can the finished product where all I have to do is open the jar, pour it in a pot, warm it up and eat.

I'm not kidding. My household consumes about a kilo of the little goobers a week and we generate a LOT of shells.

My wife and I are having this "discussion". She says it's fine just to rinse them off under the running water for a few seconds, but I think you have to use a bit of soap to get the chemical residue off (bug spray etc). What do you all think? (And yes I know there are fancy organic rinses for this type of thing, but let's just stick to the soap or no soap question).
Oh, one last thing, she says that dish detergent leaves an even more poison residue than pesticide. I doubt that, since it's what we use to wash our dishes with, and I rinse the fruits and vegetables after washing anyway. If you have any comments about this, I'd love to hear them.

Personally, I want to become a vegetarian because I'm a picky eater and meat just tastes so gross to me, especially knowing that it came from a living thing. I also hear that going vegetarian is much healthier and I think it's so true because your getting nutrients straight from the source and not through animals. Plus, there was this creepy video I watched on the internet about the origin of sloppy joes. http://www.jkcinema.com/runflash.asp?id=UL4&name=Urban%20Legends%20Series:%20Origins&width=400&height=300&quality=best All I have to say about that is that you can't disguise human flesh as a celery stick.....!!!

I've been thinking about it lately and the only thing I'm worried about is health issues. What would you suggest investing in, in order to maintain good health while being meat free. I've heard B12 supplements and Flax seed oil? Are these good? Would you suggest more?

For instance, if I have some ground beef and on the package it says it contains 15 grams of fat per serving, but when I cook it, I brown it in a skillet than I drain out most of the grease using a screen colander, and sometimes even rinsing the meet off with water. Does that reduce the amount of fat in the ground beef??
