I live alone and do light cooking for myself. I am a big eater and I like meat and fresh fruit and vegetables.

I buy for a 2.5 family household, and I spend $150 a week on grocceries. You could probably get away with spending between $60-$70 a week

my husband has been known to spend waaay too much on groceries. i got sick of seeing $50 reciepts for one meal, so we made a game... We are aloud $12.00 and for that we see who can make the most delicious/nutritous meal. it's fun, we buy a cheap cut of meat(we have to be creative with marinades and spices) and some veggies and noodles or rice. it's fun, and we eat surprisingly well!

so, for one person, 6 or 7 bucks a meal sounds reasonable. that's dinner. breakfast and lunch will be cheaper, eggs, cereal, sandwich stuff. so maybe $70 a week?

also, if you have an aldi store and you aren't super- picky, a single person could eat for $30 a week!!

Meat is expensive and so are fresh fruits and vegtables, but sinse you live alone and assuming that your not over weight I,d say about $200.00 a month.

what i would do is track your food expenses for one month. that way, you can actually see how much your spending on eating out, groceries, beverages, etc.

Then you can think of ways to save like not eating out so much, and cooking a big roast and eating it for a few days. also, track your beverages, it certainly does add to a budget. I like cheaper beverages like water, and tea. sometimes soda. good luck!

Well it really depends on whether you like good food or ramen noodles that are 12/$1.00 at the local dollar store. My husband and I eat well and we spend about $100/week on groceries.
