Singles & Dating - 22 February 2007

Ok, so I have never had a bf. There was this one guy, and we liked each other for 4 years, but never went out because he wasn't allowed. (haha, I know pathetic he goes to a private highschool and is kind of sheltered). Anyway, because of that "relationship" I've completely discouraged anyguy from liking me. Now thats over, 4 guys have asked me out in the past week and I've rejected them because I'm kind of iffy on dating. But last weekend, I met this great guy and he has been texting me all week and wants to hang out this weekend. HELP?! I don't know what to do! I want to... but what do you think he means by hanging out? Watch a movie? Go to the mall? Does that count as a date? I don't know him very well, so what do we talk about? Ahh! Any advice would be great.

Thanks so much for your email reply. I have been so busy. I am taking a quick break at work to reply to you. I certainly hope your neck area is getting better! Having a spasm in that area can ruin your day, you never realize how much you use your neck until it’s hurt.



Your commentary about being without cats is quite humorous. But, I hope you are not feeling lonely without them. It is good that you no longer have that annoyance factor though.



The house is shaping up well. The landlord/repair people have not shown up yet, to my knowledge. With the help of Nessa, yesterday we shredded 10 years worth of cancelled checks. That was a fun activity for her, and was nice to be rid of more packrat stuff. Just have a few more cabinets to go through and some filing to do.



Have some more stuff to do tonight since I don’t have Nessa with me. Maybe we can chat later if possible. Miss you much!

I am 34 and have never been in a "serious" relationship with a guy. Due to sexual abuse in my past, I have found it very hard to open up and trust a guy. When a guy smiles at me, I tend to withdraw rather than show interest (if, indeed, I am interested!)
It's very hard to be my age and feel like a freak on a leash. I have had mostly long-distance relationships with basically unavailable people.
How do you open up to dating available guys? How do you trust when you've known mostly just a lot of pain from men?

I am 14 and I have never had a boyfriend, been kissed, or been on a date. Everybody I know has done one of those things. I just thought that when you turn 13 or 14 you get your first kiss and your first boyfriend because that's what happens in the movies and on TV...but I guess I was wrong. I am scared that when I get into High School I will never find anybody because it is a small town school. Right now I really don't want a boyfriend and I think I am weird because of that because all of my friends want one. I would rather hang out with my family and friends on a weekend than worry about a boyfriend. All of my friends said that they have had a boyfriend but they never went out with them anywhere or talked to them so I just don't get how that could be a boyfriend. I have always heard that men cheat more but out of all my friends that have come and gone in my life (I'm 27) all the cheaters have been women? there's this girl that live next ot me her man beats her i called the police and she got mad and we got the fighting because she said u called the police and she came in my face so we just start knocking and then i had a party 2 days ago we heard noises she was screaming so my man went over there and her man answered the door he said huh my man said would lisa (thats the girl name) do she want to come to the party and he said no they ok my man said i didn't here her say it and she came and he told her to come back in the house she did not answer he siad stay out here she said nothing then she turned to us and said why didnt we stay out of it i said girl u need to leave not keep him and when we left she was beating on the door telling him to open it he would'nt so a few hours later she came beating on our door and we opened it she was mad so we got the fighting again was i wrong for calling the police

This girl and I went on a few dates It was going pretty well but out of nowhere she said that she didnt know if a relationship is what she wanted and thought being friends was the best option. A month later we are talking again. She keeps dropping hints to me to do stuff. Like she said she wanted to go for a walk somwhere (this was 8pm!! no one goes out for walks on there own at night) but she said she didnt know where to go. I said she could come to the pub with me. She was all up for it until i told her my mate would be there. She said it will be "awkward" for him. She later told me we should watch a dvd together, but when i asked her, she again declined after she found out my mate would be there. I thought that if she wanted "friends" then this would be ok? So i invited her around alone, and she said "just to clarify this is purely a friends thing, qui?" I said it was cool, but when she was at my house she kept doing very strange stuff!! The kinda stuff my friends would never do!!
