I've just found out a guy I know likes me. I get on great with him but I don't really fancy him. He has sent me a text but I havent answered. He split with his fiancee less than a year ago & (this is rumour only) i'm told he has a gambling problem. would it be a bad idea to meet him for a drink (eg)?

Does it mean more to you if the person you date has a great personality, or that they look good?

I personally find that personality is key. If I cannot have an actual conversation with a person, they can kiss our relationship good-bye. Sure, looks matter... but TO AN EXTENT... I would much rather be with a person that I can talk to, one that is funny, witty, smart, and at times a bit dorky, than a guy that looks good, but cant figure out what 2+2 is..

What are your thoughts?

After 11 years of marriage, my marriage has broken down. Issues of domestic violence and emotional abuse were the cause. It has been a gruelling past 4 or so years. Unfortunately I never stopped thinking about that boyfriend I had when I was 22 and have many dreams and thoughts about him, probably mainly because things were so bad in my marriage. I recently heard that his marriage had ended, and I almost cry when I think about that. I wonder if you think I should try to contact him again! If so how, and why? I feel nervous with the thought of it. He married young at 22 when his then partner fell pregnant and being catholic I think his family thought it was the right thing to do. I always had this feeling that there was a strong bond between us and if the dreams would just stop then maybe I could give up the memory! what do words of advice do you have

We've been together for a long time,9months, and well, right this minute i don't think he loves me, i mean i love him so much.
But, i keep asking if he loves me and he says "well why would i spend £65 on your birthday present, so yes i do" which i don't really think money counts.He's sleeping at mine tonight and my best mate is round today,he's like "oh i might come around a bit earlier so i can speak to her, havent done in ages" maybe its just me been jealous.But the other day he was saying he hates her?!
Basically, what i'm trying to ask is, how do i know he's in love with me?
i mean what are your opinions aswell?

Am dating this really cute guy; confident, fantastic personality, great job….. and very handsome.
My problem is this; he’s very jealousy of my old boy friends and get really suspicious of me when I speak with any of them.
Mind u, I don not keep in touch with them all but one or two have managed to remain just very good friends.
Now, my guy has an incredible history with women; he was quite popular with the ladies before we started dating seriously about two years ago….
My challenge with him is, why is he so jealous of my past? And why is he so interested in it when his past doesn’t bother me?
I really would appreciate an answer on how to deal with him cos he’s stating to really upset me with this….
And the more I to explain to him that there’s nothing in my past that important than my present and future with him, the more he gives me the impression like he doesn’t trust me.

It seems like everyone except me has close friends or best friends who like to hang out with them. I'm a real nice guy and try to be "cool" but I can't seem to make a quality friend that I can count on and who likes to hang out. I was real shy when I was growing up but now I've kind of grown out of it but at my age 27 it's really hard to find friends. I have more of what you would acquaintances who never call me. I'm the one who has to call them and they don't call if I don't call them back for a while. I don't think these types of people would be considered friends. I don't drink, maybe that's why but I'm not sure. Is anyone else in the same boat or am I the only one?

Just by looking at me you couldn't possibly tell how messed up my life has really been. I'm aware and i dont blame anyone but myself for the way things are for me.
