1) in lieu of gifts, ask guests to make a donation to an environmental organization you support
2) in lieu of wedding favors for your guests, make signs for the tables that says you've made a gift in their honor to support an environmental organization
3) if you want to give favors to your guests, give them tree saplings planted in small containers that they can take home and plant in their yard. The tree can remind them of your special day, plus do some good for the earth!

I think it would a great idea. Anything to help the environment is a plus. Weddings are so expensive that I'm sure there are loads of alternative products that you could use.

Personally as much as I'm trying to be more Eco-friendly, my wedding is on a budget and I sometimes find being Eco-friendly can be more costly.

1. Recyclable stationery - initiation, save the date, name place cards
2. Recyclable favours for the gift
3. Decorations

I'd do Eco-friendly invites, a dress of natural materials and register for Eco-friendly gifts. There are also several Eco-friendly hotels out there as well, I'd see if I could reserve a block of rooms in one of them for out of town guests. I'm putting a link in the sources you may find helpful.

Congrats & good luck!
