If we must all agree that there is "global warming" caused by man (and woman?) because that is the "consensus", does that mean that if the "consensus" was the opposite, then there would be no global warming?

Apparently, that would be the logical conclusion if you follow the "global warming" crowd! All we have to do to stop global warming is get a "consensus" and...POOF! ... no "global warming".

It's easy for me to understand that reduction of fossil fuels would be bad for people who sell it. Etc. on that path

I have no idea who would gain or how
I have not seen al gore's movie and don't want to.
It's not even a matter of believing, it's real
even people who don't think it's real later say water vapor is the leading contributor of global warming. So they know it's real but they question CO2
That's the one we can actually control
and i could go on forever on its defense

but, assuming it is a "Hoax"
who cares?
Altering the way we live to use less energy and recycle more and all the things we can do...... are still beneficial
why would you not want a car using alot less gas
why would you not want to lower your energy consumption cost
all these things are good for your bank and the enviroment regardless of G.W.'s validity

if they are exaggerating it, which they are not
it's because you have to go that far just to get people's attention

Malaria. Dengue Fever. Encephalitis. These names are not usually heard in emergency rooms and doctors’ offices in the United States. But if we don’t act to curb global warming, they will be. As temperatures rise, disease-carrying mosquitoes and rodents spread, infecting people in their wake. Doctors at the Harvard Medical School have linked recent U.S. outbreaks of dengue fever, malaria, hantavirus and other diseases directly to climate change.
do you believe this? what are you doing to "go green"?

I have seen all kinds of questions here about outlawing plastic bags, race cars and so on. Everybody has a pet peeve that is a waste and should not be allowed. So, I was curious. How many people thing the world would be a better place if we all gave up cars, electricity, and all that stuff to live like the Amish, farming small plots of land by hand.

1) You have unusual pains, similar to gas pain you've had in the past but much worse than usual. You go to 10 doctors, and 9 say you need immediate life saving surgery. The 10th says you'll probably be fine. Would you accept that you need surgery, or wait it out?

2) You're caught committing a crime and talk to 10 lawyers. 9 of them say you should accept a plea bargain for a reduced sentence, the 10th says you should try your luck in court because he thinks you can get off. Do you accept the plea bargain, or try to get an innocent verdict?

3) The world is warming at a rapid rate. 9 out of 10 scientists say it's due to human greenhouse gas emissions and poses a serious danger if we don't reduce our emissions. The 10th scientist says it's probably just a natural cycle. Do you accept that we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions?

Please answer all 3 scenarios honestly.

I mean... There are many proof that show that global warming is real and is gonna happen if we don't take action... And why I do some people say that Al Gore's movie: "An inconvenient truth" sucks, when the only think that he's telling is the truth?

"Jim Hansen, a climate change expert at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, takes issue with NASA administrator Michael Griffin's views on global warming during an interview with Madeleine Brand. Griffin told NPR's Morning Edition that he isn't sure global warming is a problem we must tackle, a view Hansen says is "remarkably uninformed."

Shouldn't a NASA administrator be reasonably informed? I mean, essentially everyone who accepts the reality of global warming knows that it's a problem we have to tackle. How did this guy become a NASA administrator, anyway? Does anyone know who appointed him?

There is conclusive evidence that the earth was warmer 1000 years ago than today. And yet many people fervently believe that global warming is entirely man made. Additionally, no global climate cataclism occurred back then. Millions of people did not die of coastal flooding. Species were not wiped out. Life went on. Our biggest problem was man's oppression of man back then as it is today.

So why the obsession with global warming? Is it governments and "intelligencia" playing on the ignorance of the masses? Or are the masses sufficiently ignorant to do it on their own?

Is the obsession with global warming a result of stupidity or manipulation? Is is just some red herring that is thrown our way to keep everyone in lock step? Governments like to have an enemy of the people to deflect attention away from their own incompetence. Saddam Hussein, for instance. Is global warming a clever version of this old game?

... why is the temperature rising five to ten times faster than any known natural warming? The fastest known natural warming occurs when the Earth comes out of an Ice Age, when the planet typically warms by 4° to 7° C over 5000 years or so, a rate of 0.14° C per century or less. In the past century the planet has warmed by 0.7° C. Is it just an amazing coincidence that this is occurring at exactly the same geological moment as the large-scale burning of fossil fuels?

(And over the last 20 years, the temperature has been rising at an astounding rate of 2° per century. And it's still accelerating.)
