i really believe in the conservation movement, and then I see how the people who are supposed to be leading us , use more energy and resources, than 50 average american families. should they not lead by example, or is it do as I say , not as I do.

Absolutely - I don't understand how anybody is supposed to take him seriously when he's flying all over the country in private aircraft and has that HUGE ineffecient home. Huge hypocrite.

You can't be a consumer in a Capitalist Society and NOT be a hypocrite. So Al Gore is no worse than the rest of us. The idea is to follow the Concept of conservation- not the people who are promoting it. It's the Message that matters- NOT the messenger... Scapegoats are no substitute for personal responsibility.

all of the politicians are they all fly on privet air planes drive big huge gas guzzling suv's followed bu 20 other huge gas guzzling suv's with 2 ppl in each one, live in huge homes where they probably leave all the lights on all the time and have central air set at 60 degrees even when no one is there they send their clothes to be dry cleaned, have huge bath tubs that they fill with their boiling water (cause you know their hot water tanks are not set to 120) they eat at restruants and probably only eat half the meal and do you really think they ask for a doggy bag? please they just want to sound like they are doing somthing so they switch a few light bulbs or plant a few trees or some other stupid little thing but they will never truly change.

If you are asking "Can Al Gore be doing more to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gasses?", the answer is yes.
However, I believe this does not invalidate his message.
If he uses the same amount of energy as 50 households, but convinces 500 housholds to conserve energy, the net result is less energy being used.

Sure he is...he is making millions while pretending to live a carbon free life: giant home, classic gas guzzler hot rod, private jets, limos, ect. Nice care free life. Do as Al says, not as Al does. By the way those floresent light bulbs have mercury in them so be carful when and where you dispose of them.

sadly yes he is. i love al gore, and i loved his movie. it was the best! but yes.. he does use more energy .. way more energy, if he had his house solar power that woudl be great. which i think he needs to do and people woudl stop calling him a hypocrite. but yeah, if he is going to lead, he needs to lead and set examples. not say what we should do and not do it.

Yeah, I know.

I mean, so yeah, he brought global warming to a lot of people's attention? That's nice. But I still think he'd get even more people's attention by leading through setting an example for everyone.

It shouldn't be "do as I say, not as I do."

I not sure if I will call honorable VP Al Gore, a hypocrite. Like most of us who are conscious of global warming, will do whatever we can, be it a small or big role. For example, I am still trying to save some money to switch to a hybrid car, which I hope its price will dropped in the near future.

I do not know how any one can trust a man who claimed to have invented the internet. As far as I am concerned he is just about the biggest threat to the environment by being a massive waste of oxygen.

EDIT:

After reading a few more post on this subject, I would like to clarify myself.

Regardless of the validity of his message (which I have serious doubts about) he is still a waste of oxygen. He is the consumate Democratic Politician. He will take a small bit of conclusive evidence and attempt to create a panic about it all in the name votes. His latest media tour is designed to sell books and movie tickets.

Yes I believe that we should be more Earth conscious. Yes, I believe we should be concerned about the depletion of our resources. Yes, I believe that if we must use a non-renewable resource, we should recycle the living hell out of it. And yes, I believe that Al Gore is a hypocrite. I have only heard 1 person in politics, Republican or Democrat, who actually cared enough to put his money where his mouth is, and unfortunately for the world, he passed away late last year. Al Gore is doing this for money because he knows it will work.

If he wishes to spend that much money on blocks of green energy, why does that make him a hypocrit to ask you and I to do simple things to help the environment?

He isn't asking ou to make any severe personal changes, only to change your habits, buy green energy, and promote industrial cleanliness. buying green energy does that.

Anybody with any common sense and even a modicum of intelligence and education KNOWS algorey is a hypocrite and an outright liar!
NO decent politician should have any "do as I say, not as I do" mentality, EVER!
Anyone that believes otherwise is a fool.
