Corporations tend to gain by limiting enviro-expenses.
Global Warming is more a diversion from the more urgent problem of Global pollution.
Global pollution calls for expensive **Clean-Coal Tech for Coal Fired Generating plants by the thousands in China, India , Russia, USA, Canada and most of the countries you can think of. [ Stack scrubbers etc.]
Global pollution calls for stepping up production of EVs, [ Electric Vehicles, Hybrid, Plug-in and battery.
Compressed air cars and vans. [ France and India ]
Bio-fuel vehicles, and finally Hydrogen, but that is very expensive and needs much refinement.
You can get a quick refresher on the current most promising Phoenix EV SUT. [sport utility truck] and of course the Tesla Roadster EV and a few others at:
TonyGuitar.blogspot.com.
Chevron, Exxon-Mobile, Big three Auto and Magna / Mopar / GM all prefer to hold off the trend to Electric Vehicles for obvious reasons.
That is why AL Gore and Global Warming are so well supported by Corporations.
Remember EVs use no GAS, No Oil, No ati-freeze, No auto parts, No radiator, No, muffler, No complex and troublesom gas or diesel engine, No fuel injection, No spark plugs, No rubber hoses, No mufflers, No catlytic converters, No fuel and oil pumps, No Air, Gas or Oil Filters, and on and on..
You really want an electric car or motorbike so you can save a fortune in gas money. You and I simply do not understand that just yet. Do we? = TG

Well, I agree to a point, if it really is a hoax then there are more beneficial uses of our time and effort, such as focus on eradicating poverty and AIDs, that said, it's fairly obvious global warming is real just by the consensus of so many scientists.
Some things are taken too far, this website http://www.moonblaze.com and a few others is based off a recent article that estimated that if google used a black homepage it would save 750 megawatt hours in global energy use a year. But that amount is really trivial if you think about it in a broad scale.

I think it's odd that the so called 'skeptics' immediately accuse anything said by climate scientists as being 'junk science' or a hoax, yet believe every single word spoken by the contrarians without question. It's all fine and well to flit about telling everyone how skeptical you are, but it doesn't mean anything if you're only skeptical of people you don't agree with. Being a true skeptic means taking an agnostic position towards both sides, something the deniers never do.
And I can't even count the number of times I've seen a 'skeptic' present an argument saying that global warming is caused by the sun, and then turn around and present an argument saying that global warming doesn't exist at all! Their method of discussion usually runs something like this: "Global warming isn't happening, and if it is we didn't cause it, and if we did it's a good thing, and if it isn't there's nothing we can do about it".
Edit: And Doctor, I was being sarcastic. Just wanted to make sure you knew that. The primary argument presented by the skeptics is that 'scientists only say global warming is real to make money', yet they have never once come up with a plausible method by which they might do this. There simply aren't very many ways for any scientist to make any money from global warming theory.

Global Warming is not a hoax, it is definately happening. Our contribution to its rate of development may be exaggerated slightly as it was going to happen anyway. For millenia parts of the earth have overheated and dried out whilst other parts froze over. Poles have melted, moved around and refroze whilst sea levels have risen and fallen more times than we can ever prove. This great cycle of ever-changing climate contions not only wipes out hundreds of species but simultaneously creates new habitats for hundreds more to develop in other parts of the planet. If you were to step back and watch the bigger picture for a few hundred thousand years you'd probably witness another global freeze and wonder why on earth you thought you could make any difference to this great unstoppable cycle of events.

The ones who would gain are:
Scientists who depend on the global warming crisis for grant money.
Traders who expect to make money dealing in carbon credits (Al Gore is one of these).
Governments who can use this as an excuse to assume more control over your life and life choices.
Liberal politicians who want the government to take complete control over your life and life choices.
And yes many of these are exaggerating, this has been acknowledged by other global warming supporters.

I saw a show on the discovery channel and they feel that yes global warming is real and we are causing it to happen faster, but they also said that there is a group of scientist that have discovered that global warming is an earthly cycle. In other words what they are saying this cycle happens every couple of hundred years, also they feel this is why the dinosuars went exctinct and they said they have gone several hundreds of feet into earth layers and can prove this theory.I for one after seeing there studies believe they are on to something and they are in concurrence that we are causing this cycle to accelerate.

Is a grand scheme to make billions of dollars off of the masses .. by telling you that the sky is falling .. because YOU are bad and try to make you feel guilty .. so you'll pay more for a car like a Hybrid or everyday items like CFL's Things to lessen your guilt like Carbon Credits .. the list goes on! .. lol
It's a scam in my opinion ... a way to control you and the way you think .. believe me they are trying to change the way you think .. and it's NOT for the better .. some have been hopelessly brain washed up to this point .. they are beyond help. This hysteria reminds me of an incident back in the early 1930's when average people were lead astray with lies and deceit.

The funny thing is that one could make the same 'hoax' argument for either side of the issue. Consider (quoting a little bit):
"Step one in becoming rich: Dedicate your life to studying climate science."
"Step two:" [previous answer deleted... new answer follows] Claim that the vast majority of scientists are liars and cheats, and that you'll reveal exactly how in your upcoming book.
"Steop three: Profit."
The REALLY funny thing is that it is quite obviously MUCH more profitable to be one of the lone dissenters than part of the majority. If you're the only one who disagrees, you'll get all the talk show and book deals, while the ones you accuse of dishonesty will have to divide the profits among their vast numbers.
So yes... it's quite possible to make money by lying. But ask yourself: it is more likely that 99% of the community are cheaters, or just the 1% with the greatest motivation to cheat?

Global warming was never considered a hoax when it was purely a scientific issue being researched by the experts. The notion of it being a hoax only began when it became a political issue and the non experts got involved.
Despite what many people may claim there is very little to be gained by it being a hoax. The notion that every single government in the world could form a massive conspiracy without one single person having broken ranks is too extreme to even contemplate.

It's not.
Supporting a bad theory is no way to advance a scientific career. The idea that 99+% of the world's scientists:

would do that is absurd.
