I don't think many people don't believe that global warming is real. Most people agree that the earth is getting warmer. That's difficult to dispute. What some people are disputing is whether or not it is human activity that is the main cause of the warming and that it can be reversed. That is a lot easier to dispute. Al Gore's movie shows mostly circumstancial evidence that Humans are the main cause of the warming.

Why don't some people believe in global warming?
I mean... There is alot proof that show that global warming is real and is going happen if we don't take action... And why do some people say that Al Gore's movie: "An inconvenient truth" sucks, when I only think that he's telling is the truth?
That is how you Question should have looked But beyond that Global warming is A Big Issue in the U.S.A and Some peoples Beliefs are different from yours mine or the next Person's. A movie is a movie no one can predict the future What Happens Happens And if and when something happens the non-believers will see that maybe they should have taken the time to do more research or should have Went Green, and not looked down apon the people who did. We make a difference everytime we re-use something or recycle something. Make A Difference.

Well for one, the "inconvenient truth" is that Al Gore was becoming an ignored has been. He took some myth and made a movie.
Also there has yet to be proof. There has yet to be any substantial evidence that there is a trend to long term global warming. in 1974 Time magazine was crying about "Another Ice Age?" mentioning a "cooling trend." Which do you want? is man cause the Earth to heat or cool? Is warming just the flavor of the month?

It is like a weather report: the weather people can't even predict the weather 100% a few hours in advance. Meterologists can't even tell 100% what the day's highs or lows were.
When humans have been keeping weather records for just a little more than a century, every thing else is based on tree rings, stories earlier people told, etc. In other words, it is a conclusion based upon secondary evidence that vents forth the idea of global warming.
Next problem is that nature provides so much methane (every organisem on earth when it dies and decays gives off methane), CO2 and poisonous gases that it is so very difficult to tell 100%.
Also, nature has a way of cleansing itself: in St. Louis, for instance, far more rain falls now (they claim) than before there was a city there.
The biggest problem is that people have such short memories. Older people can remember when dry streams used to provide fishing and swimming holes, but many choose to ignore it. As Al Gore says, it is an "inconvenient truth".

I believe to some extent that humans cause global warming. I think the problem is that people are humping to much. Population control is the biggest contributor to global warming in my opinion. An example is more people means more housing. Which means more trees being cut down in the rain forest to build housing. Oil and gas industries take a lot of heat for causing global warming. What about people who use cars? Are they not consumeing the oil that these companies provide? What about turning the lights on in your home? Are we not consuming coal? My point is, the more babies people have, the more these resources are going to be used. Right now the Latin population is exploding! These people will need to be housed and will consum resources. What will happen when we reach our biological capacity?

Don't worry about global warming. People always make money off of creating mass hysteria, look at 9/11 and the stock market.
Here are the facts.
Scientists agree that we are in between ice ages.
Scientists agree that the world has been in existance for about 5 billion years.
We have been keeping track of temperatures for less than 100 years.
Therefore, scientists have observed and graphed less than 0.000002% of thermal changes on this planet.
Since Ice Ages recur regularly, it only makes sense that there is a natural warming and cooling process, and that global warming is just the earth on its way to the midpoint between Ice Ages.
The human population has been increasing exponentially since we have existed.
Humans produce CO2, which supposedly causes global warming.
With millions more humans heating up the Earth, why isn't that a main concern?
Wouldn't killing a few billion of our own species slow the supposed process down? After all, we are the only species in the history of Earth to openly defy evolution and force those lesser people who would have easily died 500 years ago because of stupidity or weakness or some other fatal thing to survive and reproduce. And in the process, we force viruses and bacteria to evolve at an accelerated rate.
People say that if the Polar Ice caps melt, the world will be flooded.
Scientists agree that they have no idea how much of Antartica is actually ice.
Scientists agree that water expands when frozen.
Scientists agree that the vast majority of ice is already under the water.
Is it possible, then, that the sea level may go down if all of the ice were gone?
People also point to Hurricane Katrina as evidence of global warming.
Does it seem like a bad idea to you to build a city below sea level on the coast?
What about tearing out trees, the only things holding the dirt in place, to build buildings- again, below sea level on the coast.
People (meaning Al Gore, I was excited when he lost the election, I thought I'd never have to hear him open his mouth again... I was wrong, stupid people have a way of showing up in the media after their time should be over. Al Gore, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith, Sanjaya, and William Hung are just a few examples) will always make money from scaring people as long as they are too stupid to look at the facts and reach their own conclusions.
Don't get me wrong, we should start taking better care of the planet, but do it because you like living here and you want your children do live here, too, not because some liberal "scientist" says the end is near, at that point it'll be too late. That's like your parents having to tell you the house will blow up if you don't walk the dog. You should want to walk the dog so it doesn't get ugly and fat, not because of some made-up threat.
Yes this is a recycled answer, but lots of people make movies. Not many are true. If he's REALLY concerned about it, why is he trying so hard to use a "world disaster" for his personal gain? What will he buy, a bigger house? that will use up more energy than necessary to keep the whole thing heated and cooled. What about how he is flying all over the country giving speeches, using TONS (literally) of fuel to get from place to place?

Well I think basically everyone acknowledges that global warming exists. It would be completely ignorant not to, since the warming of the Earth has been measured.
The argument is about whether global warming is primarily caused by humans. Why people don't believe that it's caused by humans is a valid question, because over 90% of scientific experts believe that it is. For the average Joe Schmoe to think he knows better than 90+% of experts is frankly completely stupid.
The problem is that our media creates the false perception that there's any significant doubt that humans have caused global warming. They try to be "balanced" by always bringing on someone to tell the skeptics' side of the story, like scientists who are funded by the oil industry. Even though these so-called "experts" only make up a tiny fraction, they're given equal weight and time as the 90+% of experts who agree with the concensus.
You also get idiots like Rush Limbaugh shooting his mouth off as if he has any idea what he's talking about, but a lot of people listen to him for some bizarre reason. So media bias is one major reason that people don't believe humans cause global warming.
There's also a lot of misinformation out there. People on this very website have posed "questions" asking how people who believe global warming is caused by humans can be so stupid when clearly it's caused by volcanos/water vapor/cow burps/soda pop. Yes, soda pop. I'm not even making that up, somebody called us dopes because he claims soda pop causes global warming. It took me all of 5 minutes to prove that was an incredibly stupid claim, but you see my point about the misinformation out there.
Basically what it all boils down to is that people don't want global warming to be caused by humans. If it is, then they might have to stop driving their gas guzzling SUV or use less energy or change their lives somehow, and that's just too darn inconvenient! Somebody tells them some bogus story about how a cow's fart causes global warming, and it sounds good because then they don't have to change their lifestyle, so they believe it. People are lazy and they believe what they want to believe.

The science around Global Warming is not scientific... It is consensus... Back the 80's there was consensus that the earth was in a cooling cycle and that we had to fix that before we experienced another ice age... Then there was the ozone that could not be replaced, but 15 years later, it seems to be more plentiful.... The amount of global warming caused by humans since our existence is not equal to ONE volcanic eruption.... Don't let "consensus" science be your guide or you will be worshiping the SUN as God...

Because none of the people that tell us they DO believe in Global Warming are doing anything more about it than silly symbolic actions, like adjusting thermostats (this month anyway) and experimenting with car pools. Or worse, just pontificating about it by "creating awareness"
If GWists were really serious they would be bragging how low their electric bill is because they put solar PV cells on their roof and a wind generator in their back yard. I live in a city of a half million and have yet to drive by a single house that has done this.

Some are conservatives who believe anything said by liberals or environmentalists or, worse yet, Al Gore, must be wrong. That may change as more conservatives have come to know global warming is real, and speak out.
"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives Tuesday to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"
"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."
James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.
"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."
Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford
"I agree with you (Gore) that the debate over climate change is over."
Rep. Dennis Hastert, Republican, Illinois
"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."
Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona
"I'm trying to learn [about greenhouse gases and global warming]. The more I learn, the bigger believer I become."
Senator Lindsay Graham, Republican, South Carolina
“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."
Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont
But admitting global warming is real means admitting things have to change. Humans are notorious for denying reality rather than accept change.
