metres from any residential property in the country....or would you rather set a limit on the [population/] size that any city can grow to.[and scale back those that have ballooned to an inhuman size and density]

or couldnt you care less if the whole planet is concreted over...as long as YOUR morally grubby little family can afford to live in a nice leafy haven?

In his movie Algore had a clip of a polar bear swimming pitifully in the sea trying to haul itself up onto the last piece of ice floating in the Arctic Ocean.

However this bear isn't real. It's an anamation just like the Coke-Cola bears.

So the question is why did Algore have to result to special effects in this movie if the facts are true?

Maybe the polar ice realy isn't melting, or the bears are doing fine.

One thing to be sure, is that to bring the point that "global warming" is real, people have to lie about the facts.

I mean, last week it only rained twice - once for 3 days and once for 4 days!

Seriously though, this has got to have been a pretty bad one!

This high school teacher (formerly a worker at NASA) claims to have come up with a calculation for how it wastes less gas to have the air conditioning turned on versus rolling down the windows. I told my friend this teacher must be a complete moron, but my friend insists that I should "broaden my horizon." So, do you think this theory is pathetic or not?

UPDATE: I have not seen the calculations, but my friend says the teacher has come up with them. My point is that the theory is pathetic to begin with and therefore the calculation must be flawed too...

I just finished watching it and I think it's amazing... I've believed in global warming and tried researching it ever since I first heard about it, but this movie takes the prize. I just wanted to know what others think of it and if ANY of you are doing anything to help change global warming I'd love to hear about it and join in your efforts. Right now there's such a vast array of things to do I have NO clue where to start (besides the fact I just turned our thermostat down :P) So I wanted to know what others my age are doing to help. I'd love to help you too!!

There is lot of talk us all adopting a greener lifestyle. If we all reduced our individual carbon footprint by 50% how much difference would that make to the carbon footprint of the UK. How much of it is under our direct control?

I've just been outside and felt something 'fly' near my ear, so like most girls would do I freaked out and waited inside. I put my hand on my head and it fell out of my hair, naturally I screamed. It's currently on my kitchen floor, I've trapped it in a glass waiting to move it.

It's black, got 8 legs, and it's got this weird back when it's scared or angry (or both) it kinda flares it up so it's almost vertical what kinda insect is it?

I'm praying that I've found a new species and that the government are going to offer me millions for it!

If we can imagine a time when all of our energy is generated by renewable means, will we reach a point that we are degenerating the ability to renew? For instance, if you imagine a windmill generating X amount of electricity, the wind power that went into that amount of electricity is now lost to the environment at large. If you imagine a world-wide landscape of windmills, then is it possible that these very windmills will one day absorb a measurable fraction of the atmosphere's wind energy? And what will this do to the environment overall? The same thing would apply to any kind of scheme to harvest tidal energy. After all, the human race uses an awfull lot of power. I don't suppose this will actually be a problem soon. It'll take centuries, most likely. To me, though, it seems like a good reminder that you can't get something for nothing and we'd be wise to keep that in mind.

If a stationary bike was used to create electricity, how much energy could be made? This seems to me as a option that could be utilized by many people to power their homes on a small scale, or to charge a fuel cell battery for an automobile. Anybody know anything about this?

My daily commute is about 2.5 miles each way and I rarely drive more than 4 miles away from my home. If I sold my current car and bought a hybrid, the buyer of my old car would likely drive more than I do – in essence using more gas and creating more pollution.

In a more general sense, for hybrid to be effective, don’t old cars have to come off the road for them to have a positive effect on the environment?

A new study shows that pollution from corn-growing farms will destroy the Chesapeake Bay.

Forests are being clear-cut to make new farms.

It takes far more fuel to grow, harvest, refine, transport, and distribute ethanol then gasoline.

Hydrocarbons from ethanol emissions are worse then gasoline.

A gallon of milk is now over $4.25/gallon in most grocery stores. The price of meats has doubled. The population is increasing rapidly, so food will be more of a problem in years to come.

Liberals are making us jump feet first into using ethanol when there are serious problems with it. Ethanol is a very serious mistake. Will liberals admit that this is a giant screw up, and ban the use of ethanol before it is too late?

I see all of these giant SUV's and 8 cylinder sports cars all over and they're going 35 mph with one person in the car. There's no reason that people shouldn't get gas guzzlers because it makes them feel more important and if they can afford it, there's no reason not to. I say we should raise gas prices up to $5 a gallon and take the extra $2 per gallon and use it to start more federal wildlife preserves, so at least someone good can come from it. Who's with me?

How can you believe that global warming doesnt exist even though theres proof that it does and yet you're willing to believe that god truly exists. You dont even believe it, in your eyes you know he does. Some of us just settle for believing he might, you say it like its a fact when there is no way to prove it. But yet you have evidence that global warming exists and yet you dont wanna believe it. Id give you evidence but then youll just b!tc# that its too long as you probably will by the end of this paragraph.

I don't want any fancy web sites, or what Al Gore says is true and I should read his books, and watch the movies and bla bla bla, I want you to explain in full detail why humans are causing such a mess with this CO2 problem. Not websites and this goes mostly to all of you so called experts (bob, mike, trevor, dana) and anybody else out there, make me a believer if you can lol.....
Because all I here are ideas, which are great to pay the bills of scientists, and the idea that if you don't believe that humans cause Global Warming you obviously are part of the big industries, or support them, or have a religious hang up.... I have non of these problems believe me I'm just a simple college student that hears all these rumors going around with no solid explaination. Because in the end I can come up with a bunch of made crap myself and clam it to be real solid info. But in the end doom and gloom sales and thats all I'm hearing....so good luck and remember I don't want any websites :)
