The only polar bear I recall seeing was digital but I'm pretty sure that the movie claimed that polars were actually drowning. Some scientist think that there are more polar bears today than there ever have been. It just depends who's argument seems best to you. Whatever you do, try not to base your actions solely on what happened to a digital polar bear in a movie geered toward the general population and not the scientific community.

I believe the polar bears will survive just fine. After all they made it through the Medieval warm period okay. Many glaciers are growing in size due to the fact that warm air holds more water and the higher elevations and the poles are cold enough to condense the moisture into snow. Greenland and the poles have not thawed for millions of years and they have seen multiple warm periods that were warmer than the current temps.
If any of the politicians are truly concerned about the polar bears, I think they should help them by shearing off all that fur.

Just because there is no footage of a fact does not make it untrue.
Source(s):
If a tree falls down in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, did the tree really make any noise when it fell?
Just thought you might want to know, the tree does NOT make a sound unless someone or something is around to hear it. "Noise" does not exist until those sound waves come in contact with something that can "hear". Until then, it's simply compression and rarefaction...
How do you know, other than what people have told you, that it's a "fact" that polar bears are endangered by Global Warming?

Yup, your intuition is correct; if you talk to a scientist who actually studies polar bears, they’ll tell you the they are doing fine.
Here’s an example…
http://meteo.lcd.lu/globalwarming/Taylor/last_stand_of_our_wild_polar_bears.html
And here’s a quote…
“Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada , 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present… it is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria.”
As ever with global warming - don't believe the hype.

Because real polar bears would have eaten him and the entire film crew (but they would probably have gotten very sick afterwards).

he wanted to make a point. do u think it would be easy to find a polar bear swimming in the middle of the ocean? and then not do anythign to save it.... not to mention they are actually predatory towards humans its proven.....they arent the easiest things to film so how bout you stop criticizing every little thing about him.....if it was anyone else doing what he does he wouldn't get half the cr*p everyone gives him
it was also meant to hit an emotional note with the crowd which it did, for me atleast

It is hard to find real polar bears in the wild. Plus it is to cold to go up to the artic circle to get footage.

Pretty simple explanation - maybe there are so few polar bears left in that region that they couldn't find one to film.
Obviously it's easier to make a computer animated polar bear than to trek around the arctic looking for one to film. The point of the clip was to show 'here's what could happen to polar bears', and obviously they're not going to drown a real polar bear to prove their point.
I don't get the point of your question. Who cares about a little animated clip in the film?
