Television - 17 January 2007

The reality TV format has been increasing in popularity with broadcasters for years, mainly because it is cheap programming, and is quick to produce. Personally I think and have always thought that it is lazy programming.

Regardless of what you think about the whole uproar caused by the events on the UK Big Brother (and personally I think the melodramatization of what is essentially an argument about cheese is rediculous beyond belief), do you think that the backlash seen in the media and the streets signals the death knell for reality TV. Are people getting fed up of the lack of imagination and education in our programming?

hi.i live in london.Celebrety big brother is a very popular program here.But i never saw this program.I thought its a boring program.Some celebrety's are in a house and the camera is showing what they r doing whole day.But now i am watching the program.But i dont know the rules.I mean what is the objective?How is the rule to win this game?i mean i know nothg.can anyone help me out.Make me understand abt the program.

I mean wot the hell is going on in that house...the producers of that show sholud have called in Jade and the two giggling kidz who were steated on the sofa and given them a warning! Wot are the producer's getting out of this? the show is gone insane and all the rest of the house mates have not really helped shilpa during this outrage! the girl is fighting on her own while the rest laugh at her...

When we had no choice as to the availability of TV channels the licence fee was used as a government induced indirect form of taxation, now, with third party suppliers of programming being available, Sky, NTL et.al. there is no longer a need to pay for BBC programming support (sic).

Perhaps users of independant suppliers should get together to have this form of taxation removed as we are at present being charged twice for the same access.

I am so sick of big brother...all of it.

Everyone in my office is talking about it and its driving me insane. I dont like the concept of it and its got so boring that I dont care any more.

I know theres lots of issues floating around and some serious but if BB didnt exist those people would never have come into contact.

Does anyone else think the same and just want CBB to be over...SOON?

Big Brother, Love Island, the hairdressing one on Channel 4 whose name escapes me...
What is the attraction to these programs? Why on earth would you want to sit and watch a group of people just sitting around in a house or on an island. Perhaps I ought to put cameras up around my house and sell live pictures to ITV for broadcast. I could make a fortune!

iv never got whats with the whole time thing in the US...like for example, say im going to watch The OC, im australia we would write

The OC, 8.30pm Tuesday, Channel Ten (the tv network that televises it here)

but in the US, u guys write

The OC, Thursday 9/8c, Fox

i get Fox is the network, but why 9/8 c? cant you say 9pm?

does anyone agree that our country is turning into a country where people have to be common otherwise you are bullyed or intimidated!! why cant people walk around the streets with class and why are we harrassed for being an individual!!! im quite young but im growing up in a world where inverted snobbery is increasing!!! everywhere u turn in this country u see someone getting bullied because they are not from an estate, where trackys or swear every to seconds!! its sad to see the uk like this

Hi I recently saw footage of the UK Big Brother in news claims that Shilpa Shetty (Indian Actress) is being a victim of racism.
Personally I think there is some basis for that claim, However, I think it stems more from jealousy than anything else.....the other female housemates look like ugly, old, druggie sort of hags while Shilpa Shetty looks like the (indian) beauty she is:)

More power to her and hope she can weather this...What say you?:D lol

Do you think it would be a good idea if Big brother took pig face and her posse into the diary room 1 by 1 and showed them some of the headlines and informed them of what is going on, then tell them if they discuss it in any way they will be automatically evicted, ie within minutes. They would be out in seconds, especially if jade was last in..
