there is a novel by george orwell called 1984 big brother refers to organisation that watches what everyone does thinks etc. the tv program is based on this meaning that they are watched 24-7 with a camera and have a chance to talk to the camera about what they are feeling the point of the show is to remain in the house as long as you can getting along with your roomates and creating alliances until you are voted off the show by the viewing audience the person who lasts the longest is giving a monetry prize for lasting the longest.

The term Big Brother is believed to be derived from a film called Metroplois by Friz Lang in 1927. The film was a prediction of how the future could turn out i.e. the population being watched by an all powerful, all controlling entity. The film was such a shock to the audiences of the time, it left an indelible mark in social history and now the term Big Brother is given to any similar entity.

The TV programme Big Brother is based on a similar theory where different people are observed and their behaviour is studied and analysed for the pleasure of the audience and the pockets of the producers.

Celebrity Big Brother is just like Big Brother, but the people under observation are (apparently) 'well' known personalities whose greed for attention is only matched by their lack of intellectual thought.

I LOVE BB. I'm in Canada and I'm glad we didn't have a celeberty one. If it's the same thing all the people do is try to be the last one in the house and they win the money. Maybe this one is for charity. There will be little competitions where they can win "VETO" meaning they won't be voted out that next week. Also they may play for fun stuff like movies or something. Maybe a food competition too. Sounds like it is probably the same as normal. I can't wait for BB7 this summer...or is it 8 now? I don't remember. lol Enjoy the show!! Not sure if I would enjoy that version...they were talking about it and I'm glad they didn't. It's funnier when they aren't actors/actress's.

It's called "reality TV". It shows how a group of people live their daily lives cooped up in a house, watched by cameras 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are no rules. Eventually, someone will be evicted. This happens every Friday. The last one left in the house is declared the winner.

Why don't you ask the producers? They're the ones who came up with it.
I agree, it is pointless and half of these people aren't even celebrities.
To answer your question, it is defined as a reality TV show. But would it actually happen in real life? Would a group of total strangers be stuck in a house for a certain period of time, be watched by millions of people and have to do degrading tasks? You could also question their policy of evicting people.
It's a pointless programme, yet many people still watch it.

There are no rules. The housemates ***** about each other and wind each other up and the public have to phone up and vote out the people they want to leave the house. The last person remaining in the house wins! It is an absolute load of over rated crap which only succeeds in putting "has been" celebrities back in the limelight again!

it's like going to the zoo.
you get to look at the animals. If you watch for long enough you may see something amusing or interesting.

the winner is the person voted by the public. In most cases, the public chose the person they want to throw out.
in the final show, the public vote for the person the want to win.
a winner will usually be someone interesting, reasonably pretty/handsome, someone who evokes public sympathy and who isn't too controversial.
although some people might be foul mouthed racists, the public might not vote them out if they are, at least, creating an interesting situation in the house.
therefore jade may still be kept in... but she's unlikely to win.

Pseudo-reality - celebrities pretending to be in a reality show. some get it and understand they are still performing, some are just thick. The point it to be as entertaining as possible, so that the public do not vote you out. Last person left, wins. The celebrities get paid, them they go home and hope the show has put them back in the public mind.

The time period enormous Brother is assumed to be derived from a movie called Metroplois by technique of Friz Lang in 1927. The movie became a prediction of ways the destiny might want to coach i.e. the inhabitants being watched by technique of an all powerful, all controlling entity. The movie became the type of wonder to the audiences of the time, it left an indelible mark in social heritage and now the time period enormous Brother is given to any similar entity. the television programme enormous Brother is in accordance with the same concept the position diverse all and diverse is suggested and their behaviour is studied and analysed for the exhilaration of the target market and the wallet of the manufacturers. celeb enormous Brother is akin to enormous Brother, although the individuals below commentary are (curiously) 'properly' commonplace personalities whose greed for interest is in common words matched by technique of their lack of psychological concept.

I think it's boring and pointless too. I would call it reality TV.

They basically put 8 people (I think) in one house and see who can last the longest. They all start getting on each others' nerves and yelling at each other.

I think they get challenges or something to do and they can't tell the other people in the house...

I don't know. Unfortunately I have two sisters who make it their life's worth to watch it. O_<
