Comics & Animation - October 2006

Well this is something that has always made me wonder and ask. Is american made anime as good as japanese anime. Now before I get a rant from someone about american can't make anime. According to websters dictionary anime is described as any cartoon which displays scene's in a fantasy, sci-fi, or other wise non realistic view.

Now that we have that out of our system, what american made anime would you say actually competes with anime. Thus far the only one I have seen that does come close is Avatar: The Last airbender.

Ever seen Disney's Tarzan (or Treasure Planet, Atlantis etc). In it they use a program called 'Deep Canvas' to create beautiful background/character interaction shots.

The program 'remembers' a background artists brushstrokes (used on a wacom tablet) on a 3-dimensional background, so that a painted traditional animation background can be manouevoured to create a 3-dimensional 'traditional' looking shot.

Anyone know where i can get this program or a one that can do a similar application?

I don't like Mickey Mouse anymore because I hate the "new" voice. I know the person who did it before died but couldn't they have come up with someone more like the old voice? Walt has to be rolling over in his grave. I can't watch Mickey now. It's depressing!

I'm a die hard Superman fan but haven't even seen Superman returns. There are so many good villians in the Superman world why does he have to fight Lex Luthor all the time?? Why can't they do the Doomsday Storyline, between Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend, and Reign of the Superman that would set up three really good movies, plus set up the storyline for an awesome Green Lantern movie. I just wish he would fight someone different for a change.

I just thought about this. Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat was a mutant, one of the X-men, who could walk, or "phase", through solid objects; walls, floors, cars, etc.
Now, he's the odd thing. When she did this phasing, how is it she never went through her clothes? I mean they are not part of her, they are normal fabric (well, lycra and/or spandex)so when she walked through a wall the clothes couldn't do that, so why weren't they in a pile on the floor at the point in the wall she walk into? And why wasn't she naked on the other side?
Odd question, but I think i merits disscussion.

I'm trying to come up with a unique gift idea, and I thought about getting a collectible film cell or drawing from an animated movie or show. I don't understand, though, how some are "Limited Edition: Only 1000 Made" if it is an original. I want to be informed beforehand, but can't seem to find any helpful information online.

The movie I am looking for i saw a long time ago on sci-fi it had wierd dark monsters on it and it looked like it was after the war had ended. What do you people think about Yaoi?
My friend told me about it and i was just wondering what other people taught about it.
She didn't tell me what it was exactly and google didn't give me a good description.....

At the beginnig of the anime it shows that Naraku had the Shikon Jewel in his hands. So why did he not take it then, 50 years ago? Also, If he had the power to kill Kikiyo why didn't he? Why did Naraku go through all this trouble.

Maybe I missed something somewhere, but how can Naruku has all the shards of the Shikon no Tama (Sacred Jewel) if Kohaku still has his and Kouga still has his three (is it still three?)? Anyway, can anyone explain this to me? I'd appreciate it. It's driving my nuts trying to figure it out.
