Bleach
It is one of the most famous anime in Asia now.
It's about a boy who encounters a female deathgod (Shinigami). The girl gives her power to the boy so that he can see ghosts. Accidentaly, he turns his surrounding friends into having some odd strength too. Unfortunately this brings a problem in shinigami world. The girl is arrested and senteced to death (???). Now the boy and his friends are trying to save her by crossing to the shinigami world. There they have to deal with (if i'm not mistaken) eleven some sort of security guard to reach the execution site. The journey is quite hillarious. They meet a lot funny friends. In the end .... well i guess you should see it by yourself.
Now it's in the 90-ish episode. The battle in the shinigami world has ended though, but the problem in the real world has just begun.
There are these fun characters in Bleach. In order to switch into the shinigami mode, the boy must leave the human body. Instead of having it empty, they put a soul in it so that it can run and hide while the boy can fight. However, when he is in the human mode, the soul is put in a cute lion doll/plushie so it can talk and walk like human. Though, the lion is quite bossy, selfish, pervert, and won't shut up. On the latter episodes there will be three more dolls that will tag along with the team (even more fun).
The song ending is one of the best

Get Bleach, that tops Naruto, its teh best, its about a guy who can see ghosts and becomes a Shinagami/Soul Reaper, which is souls that kill hollows, souls that eat other souls. The anime has a good filler, so you should watch teh anime too, jsut go to youtube. The guy uptop was wrong Ichigo could always see ghosts, Rukia the female Shinagami gave him her powers to save his family and it goes on. His frineds Chad and Orihime got powers from Ichigo because he constantly leaks soul power, reitsu(i think) and its flowing like a open facset, no other Shinagami other then Ken(a Captain of Shinagami, reallty powerful) can do that, they would lose all their power right away, its just that Ichigo has so much. To turn Shinagami, theres a glove, cane, something with a special symbol on it, it will shove out the soul, which allowa Ichigo to go Shinagami, then there is soul candy, which forces out the soul and puts in a fake soul to keep the body moving. Then later on a lot later on Ichigo becomes a shingami rep, and can willl him self out of his body with the help of a badge. A shingami's weapon is called a Zanpaktu, its part of them, its a sword when its sealed, then it changes shape when its released.
One big thing, u dont read anime, u watch it, u read manga.
And if you read FMP, you should read FMP overload, its the best,, lots of humor.
U can try From Far Away, gots romance and lots of action, try black cat, i am currently reading that, and its pretty good, lots of action.
Try Cresent Moon, gots romance and action.
Fruits Baskets is good too, gots violence, and romance.
Hellsing would be a good choice for action, so would Saiyuki, and GunGrave.
I like HunterXHunter both the anime and the manga are good, its amazing, but little to no romance, but fills it up with lots of action.
You can try CardCaptor Sakura, notice its the japanese title since the japanese version is so much better, it was the first anime that i watched and it got me good.
Like action and humor then get Eyeshield 21, its about football american football, its actually pretty good. Its about a boy who was a gopher for bullies for most of his school life, and when he got to highschool his legs developed so much that he can go lightspeed for a short amount of time, light speed meaning 4.2 sec to finish the 40 yard dash. Whjch means he cant run at that speed for a long time, just short bursts of speed to cut, spin past the other players.
OMG how could i forget Eureka Seven, its an amazing mecha anime, Spiral is good too, its more of a mystery dectetive kind of anime.
Scrapped Princess is really good, i just finished watching it and it has lots of action, with romance...
DN Angel the manga is better than the anime, but both are good, lots of romance in the manga version, the anime leads you on with the wrong coupling for a long while, while the manga reveals the true coupling in the third book!

Sailor Moon season R was just what you described. During the first major villan, Queen Beryl, Serena fights monsters on every episode and flirts around with Texedo Mask(Darien). Neither of them know the others true identity and they try to figure out their pasts.
The second major villian, Ann and Allan, test Serena and Dariens love for one another. Ann tries to get Darien while Allan is trying to get Serena. The action scenes are pretty great in this part of the season. At the end the Doom Tree kiddnaps serena and darien and then their love saves them.
Similar with the third major villan.

i would say rurouni kenshin. i am currently watching it and it has become one of ym fav's. hehe it's got a bit of action and romance and it's set in the old japanese days. and he looks pretty hot when he's serious :P. i've recommended it to so many people and they all loved it. here's a summary:
"Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Try Eureka 7 it has everything your asking for. Its a mecha series, but its more about the characters than the mecha; thought the whole story is about this one mecha. It has a good romance to it a very good plot in the end, and its fun all the way through.

Wolfs Rain i think is good. i was gonna suggets FMA but youve already watched that one. Love Hina is the choice if youo want some romance and alot of humor. Hellsing too is great. Try looking for Now and Then, Here and ther. i hope you like it.

Dragon ball and Dragon ball z are always good because they feature great comedy and action but not a lot of romance. For a good combo of all three would be the kingdom hearts series.
