He'd be a hero out of place. He would be alienated, because of his optimistic view of the world and his alien heritage. I assume that he would never end up with Lois and Lex would be even more of a badass. He would be very broody and wrestle with the fact that he is not only powerful, but he is also the lone optimist in the universe. And for some reason he would throw down with the Hulk and Thor alot. For no reason.

I don't think it would be all that different- many of Marvel's top writers & artists jumped ship to DC years ago. They would probably play up the alien angle more (similar to the X-men mutant prejudice) and have Cadmus and the government be much more SHIELD-like, but the problem is Superman doesn't exist in a vacuum- all the other heroes like Batman, Green Lantern, the Flash etc. also shape the world in which his stories take place, so you'd be looking at Marvel's take on everyone.

There are several ways of looking at this.

One is that they've already done it, in that John Byrne, who did Alpha Flight did the revamped version of Superman after Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Another way is that when Marvel and DC did the Amalgamated Universe, they made Super-Soldier, a version of Captain America with Superman's powers.

A third way of looking at it is that they might take the best (and/or worst) from a bunch of other characters, and combine them into one. They might take the nobility and purity that is in Captain America (which, I believe Superman has also always had; that is not a mere retrofit to make him more like Cap.) They might also take the guilt and angst that is in Spider Man and capitalize on that. (In the past, Superman was often shown recriminating that he wasn't able to save Krypton, that he wasn't able to save hie parents the Kents when they died [Pre-Crisis], etc.)

So those are a couple different ways of looking at it. I'm sure you can probably see other character traits which Superman shares with Marvel characters.

He wouldn't have been super first of all, but more human. He probably would also have been getting into more trouble than Supes.
