I'm a die hard Superman fan but haven't even seen Superman returns. There are so many good villians in the Superman world why does he have to fight Lex Luthor all the time?? Why can't they do the Doomsday Storyline, between Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend, and Reign of the Superman that would set up three really good movies, plus set up the storyline for an awesome Green Lantern movie. I just wish he would fight someone different for a change.

I agree Eric, the entire Death of Superman storyline would have to use the entire Justice League so we get a feel of how unstoppable Doomsday really is. Then during Reign of the Superman you add the element of Hal Jordan losing his mind after the destruction of Coast City leaping into another storyline where we get to see Hal just spank the rest of the GL Corp on his way to OA and the battle with Sinestro. That would be a really dark one but we understand why. I know us thirty something comic book colectors would love to see these storylines and I know they wouldn't flop like when these movie guys make up their own stories. Think Parallax might go over if they work the Zero Hour storyline in. Bottom line is we need to see Superman supposedly die, Batman get his back broke in Knightfall, Xavier die in Age of Apocalypse, and Hal Jordan go section 8 in Emerald Dawn. These movies would definately generate some cash as long as they can keep us interested. Human villians don't cut it.

I agree with you 100%. It would be cool if they used one of his villians that he can actually physically fight. I'm not a huge fan, but I think most comic book movies fall short in this area. They base too much in reality. We're talking superheroes here. Let's see some freakishly cool villians with strange costumes on. We don't need another Matrix wardrobed bore fest.

I have yet to see Superman Returns, even though I'm not a diehard Supes fan, but I was put off by the concept of Lois having a kid, and with Supes being away from Earth for several years, etc. I also agree that we need better villains. How about Metallo? Brainiac? Mongol? Darkseid and the "New Gods"? There ARE plenty more kickin' villains for Supes to battle, and I hope the next movie concentrates on these characters instead of all the SOAP OPERA crap, as evidenced in the Spider-Man and X-Men movies. Yes, a Green Lantern movie would be GREAT!! GL is my favorite "super-powered" DC character, and the possibilites would be endless, given the CGI stuff Hollywood is capable of using. It would have to be Hal Jordan, and no other Lantern-just ignore the whole "Parallax" storyline, and I am there!Perhaps if they used the Death of Superman storyline, they could introduce a Justice League to intervene to rid the Earth of Doomsday? Lex is old news.

The first Superman movie was "decent".

Green Lantern would be a horrible movie. Sorry to burst your bubble, he was my favorite superhero as a kid too, but he'd go over like a lead balloon ('Elektra' anybody?)

I do think the Doomsday storyline would be interesting, but you can't leave Superman dead at the end of a movie. Won't work.

A Braniac storyline might be interesting. You could tie in more mystery to the whole thing.

Superman returns is a good movie. Even though it's hard to watch it & not think of Christopher Reeves. The doomsday and reign of supermen would be a great idea for movie. As for a Green Lantern movie, who knows. Would you do the white or black Lantern, & who would play them?

Superman returns isn't THAT bad. The trouble with being a diehard "anything" is you'll always expect too much. I'm a diehard Spidey fan and there are things that annoy me with those movies, but yet most everyone tells me how great they are. Best thing to do is try to relax and not think of it too much and enjoy what's there. Just my opinion.
