I just thought about this. Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat was a mutant, one of the X-men, who could walk, or "phase", through solid objects; walls, floors, cars, etc.
Now, he's the odd thing. When she did this phasing, how is it she never went through her clothes? I mean they are not part of her, they are normal fabric (well, lycra and/or spandex)so when she walked through a wall the clothes couldn't do that, so why weren't they in a pile on the floor at the point in the wall she walk into? And why wasn't she naked on the other side?
Odd question, but I think i merits disscussion.

The easy answer: The Comics Code of Authority wouldn't allow such shenanigans. :)

The real answer: Anything in direct contact with Kitty Pryde when she activates her phasing ability shares it with her. Kitty can choose not to share this ability though. A common tactic for her is to phase out of the grip of people who grab her. I think if she concentrated though, she could phase out of clothing.

As for not falling through the floor, while phasing she does not physically walk on surfaces in this form, but rather the molecules of air above them allowing her to ascend and descend.

If I remember correctly she can make things she is touching "phase" with her. Like she did when the X-jet went through a mountain while she Phased it.

I guess that means that she can choose to keep her cloth phased with her. Also she could get undressed really quickly.

What confuses me is why she does not fall through the floor when she does this. Maybe she becomes weigthless, I don't know.

You might as well ask why the Invisible Woman never made her clothes invisible instead of her body, 'by accident'. It's a comic book intended for young readers, not Little Annie Fanny, for goodness' sake!

Though, there was one time... remember Firestorm the Nuclear Man...? there was a villainess that appeared in his book for the first time, and they called her Plastique. She barged her way into a tv studio with bombs strapped to her skin-tight outfit and demanded separation for Quebec.

(This was back in the 80's. Today, she'd be called a suicide bomber, but it just goes to show how far ahead of the cutting edge DC was, even then...!)

When Firestorm showed up on the scene, she pulled the trigger. But there was a ten-second delay on the fuses, so he used his atomic restructuring powers to vaporize the clothes off her bod, took the bomb and flew outside with it before it could go off.

He figured that being on nationwide tv naked wouldn't do much for her cause, and he was right.

This makes Plastique one of the very few naked super heroes, joining the ranks of such respected members as Blackout (Comic House Publications, 1941), Silver Surfer (Marvel, 1966), Martinex (Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy, 1968), Dr. Manhattan (DC, Watchmen, 1986) and Nova (Marvel, Fantastic Four); and, at the time of her introduction, the only naked female character (unless you count Platinum, of the Metal Men, but she was a robot.)

Anyway, remember that the comics aren't just for you, they're for little kids, too. So don't expect that Marvel is going to allow nudity in their stories, just becasue you, the reader, demanded it!

Nice little story. Beautiful in fact. The story says the father carelessly describing the mother crying for no reason. I guess that depends on the type of man being dealt with. Men are different just like women. Some are more understanding than others.

If you pay attention, she can actually phase things that touches her or that she touches, as she has helped others on the team escape tight spots by phasing them through the floor, wall or ceiling, I think you just want to see Kitty naked, shame on you

You think too much.
But it would be funny if she went through a wall too quickly and left half her clothes behind.

good question, when she phases through touching another person they go with her, and she can also stop them phasing halfway through (juggernaut - x3) so im guessing that it is just concentration that keeps her clothes on

and chastity lol - shame tho!
