...saying it out loud (Bee-Tee-Doubleyoo) takes longer to say than "by the way". Do you know someone who does this? Does it annoy the crap out of you? Would you tell them that they appear to be stupid?

I am composing a business letter.
I need a correct word to describe "the floating of toxins into the air."
I want to use INERT, but that word is not as precise as I need.
I am trying to remember the word that both my High school Physics Teacher and my Biology Teacher used 30 years ago, but that was 30 years ago as I cannot even remember what I did THIS MORNING!
Thanks for all HELPFUL replies.

I am asking about the SOUND quality only. If you were blindfolded, could you tell the $3,000 Gibson from the $400 Epiphone. What is better about the SOUND only. I posed this question before but my mistake I did not emphasize that I was looking only for answers pertaining to the sound quality as I already know the asthetic differnces. I am wanting to know if you can tell the difference in the sound if you were blidfolded. If so , what about the SOUND is better on the Gibson than the cheaper epiphone. Please describe what you would hear that is sooo much better to justify the price difference.
Thank you,
Perry in Fla

Hi,
I dont understand the usage of "understanding". I want to be able to say that she/she is very understanding as in he/she can understand your feelings, empathize etc, but is the stmt correct?:
[1] "he is very understanding".
I know that the stmt: "he is very understandable" is obviously incorrect though.
To me this usage conflicts with the usage:[2] "I had a hard time 'understanding' how the system worked".

First pl, let me know if [1] is correct.
Then to help me gain insight, pl let me know the difference in way 'understanding' is being used in [1] and [2].

Thanks
