I was reading something the other day and one word stood out on the page: “distressed,” and I realized something about the word “stressed.”

With regard to the word “stressed” : It antonym is also its synonym.

Word: stressed; antonym; dis-stressed.
(IE: word: respect; antonym: dis-respect.)
However, the word “distressed” is also used to mean “stressed.”

I was wondering: Are there any other words, in the English language whose antonym is also its synonym?

I was typing up something for my homework when I noticed that when I used the word uncontradictory was marked with the little squiggly line representing a misspelled word. I was wondering if this word just wasn't in my word program's dictionary, or if I spelled it wrong, or if it is a word to begin with.

Does it bother you when people use "your" instead of "you're", "then" instead of "than" and other similar errors? It has become increasingly annoying and I am worried for today's school children. What are they being taught?

An acquaintance of mine is looking for some games that he can play with his family. They enjoy language games like Scrabble. We have already discussed Balderdash, Fictionary, Mad Gab, and Quiddler. Do you have any more recommendations along these lines?

"Don't touch Frank until I get back. I should be back pretty soon. If he triest escape, lock him in the basement. Don't give him any food or water. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone."

The man leaves, but comes back to find out Frank has escaped

"Frank needs to be punished for what he's done. I want his brother (Joe) to watch this."

"Haven't the boys been through enough?"

Suddenly they heard a loud crashing sound and they ran upstairs to find Frank missing.

"Screw the idiot! Everyone search for him now! We have to find him!"

Thanks in advance. This is about the Hardy Boys. Any help is aprechated. To read the story (what I've written so far with my brother), go to fanfiction.net and find the hardy boys section in the book and read 'echos of the past.'

thanks in advance,
me

I need a six letter word containing only 3 letters that are all used twice.

2006-09-14 05:20:04 · 9 answers · asked by polarbaby 5

can you give me some acronyms/accrostic related to any school course. like math, science, english, history, geography, physics and so on...

for example:
BESA - Biomedical Engineering Students Association
USA - United States of America
ADH - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (and i would say: And don't hide my dougnuts. abreviated into: ADHD right?)
that's what i want!!

So be creative in your own words. no acronyms that we already know about in our society.

like this one : AFAIK - All Fans Are Insane Koalas
And it really stands for : As Far As I Know

that's what im looking for...with the meaning on the side.

Do you know what i mean? Go AHEAD!

thanks!!! hehehee

For some reason it won't let me ask any more questions on my account so I'm having my sister ask them.
Here goes:

paragraph-sentance one:
"Don't touch Frank untill I get back; if he tries to escape don't give him anything for the next few days. I'm not sure how long I'll be one. When he tries or if he tries, lock him in the basement with no food or water."

peragraph-sentance 2:
"Frank needs to be punished for what he's done. I want his brothere here to watch this."

Man #2: "Isn't Joe's kidnapping enough? Why won't you just leave them both alone?"

finally, peragraph sentance 3:
"That idiot! I'll make him pay! How DARE he try and escape!"

I'm writing a fanfiction novel, so I guess the points will go to the most creative revising, but not sure.

Btw, Sis, thanks for letting me borrow this.
