I have been taking two years of German, and I score very high on tests and can write German very well. But the thing is ... I have trouble speaking and hearing it. I know this is a silly question, but I really need to ask it ... how possible is it that I, who have started learning German at 15, will be able to speak it fluently sometime in my lifetime?

I have a really good reason to want to go to the University of British Columbia. It has one of the best departments of asian studies on the north american continent, it is ranked 4th in Canada and I can afford it. Not to mention I'm sure I can get in. It is just far away. How can I convince them that this is as food for them as it is for me?

I'm 17 year old and I'm going to finish high school next year, I live in Syria and I really hate it here, I wanna study in the US but I don't have enough money. Does anybody knows how can I support myself? I would work while studying if it helps but I'm not sure the US would give a student visa to someone who has to work to afford living there. Any ideas appriciated. Email me if you like.
