“Without the Renaissance, there would’ve been no reformation.”

Well, my class is learning about the Renaissance and reformations... so yeah. I guess that quote is pretty self explanatory. However, I need something to start me up.

I'm just a tad bit confused at the moment.

Or... I need sleep.

Well, I'd appreciate it if someone helped :D

I read its translated version somewhere some 20 years ago, it's one of Chinese quotes but it didn't state who said so. I suspect this famed saying might date back to some hundreds of years ago since there were the regular national examinations yearly held in search of the best scholars to serve the Emperors.

I found this quote "Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character" and the reference is by T Alan Armstrong, but I do not know who he/she is. Anyone know?
