I bought my child the basic supplies they needed and spent over 30 dollars (quite a bit for me on my income) and now a list was sent home requiring a hundred dollar calculator, computer ubs drive, and bunch of books that can't be found at the library, etc. I can't afford to buy any of this stuff and I think if the teachers want it they should pay for it. They use the excuse that it is need for college, well what is you aren't going to college? Not everyone has the money and can't get loans and grants and scholerships. I remember when I graduated high school I heard about all the scholarships but it turns out they were only given to people involved in sports or minorities, nothing for a white A and B student lilke myself.
Teachers make 30 and 40 k a year and b**** about their income but they expect me to buy over a hundred dollars worth of stuff tomorrow when I make less than 800 and month. Teachers don't seem as smart as they think they are.

He is in 6th grade. A-B student all through elementary years. Math is his favorite subject, but he does not seem to understand what it is he's supposed to be looking for in these word problems. If it's just a regular, written out problem, he has no difficutly, but as soon as you add words in between the numbers, he gets lost. Thanks for any suggestions.

Why dont people think that good A level results are the kids hard work and good teaching not the A levels are getting easier...

You ask for kids to study more, you ask for better teachers... so when you get better A level results why don't you think hey it worked and give the teachers and kids the credit .

Instead of saying its too easy...

They have the knowledge so whats the problem if all do well?

Since teachers play such an important role in our society, yet in many areas they are underpaid (21K-40K avg teachers' salary), should their salaries be supplemented by the federal government for higher pay (in the range of 50K+)?

I'm not a teacher, but I say yes, along with raising the wages of our military, police and fire/rescue personnel.

We're a high school robotics club and compete against colleges like MIT, Duke, and Cornell every year in San Diego. We are running on a tight budget and would like to do some major fundraising to reduce our cost. We are looking at three to four digits fundraising. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone has connections to major companies that would be interested in funding us, please help out.

Thanks.

Does anybody know how much violence, sex and profanity it contains? My daughter will be assigned that book in English, and I'm not sure I want her to read it. I'm planning to read it for myself to make sure, but any input I can get would be good.

sorry but all this talk of a-levels getting easier i think its quite an insult to students who have been working their arses off all year to pass them. i think they should be congratulated NOT degraded by being told they're getting easier. and even if they are, students are still having to put the hours and the effort in.
