sorry but all this talk of a-levels getting easier i think its quite an insult to students who have been working their arses off all year to pass them. i think they should be congratulated NOT degraded by being told they're getting easier. and even if they are, students are still having to put the hours and the effort in.

It's not meant as an insult to you, we all know how hard you have to work so hard to get a good grade, but there is no doubt that exams have been completely bent out of shape by a dishonest government to make themselves look good. State education in this country has much less value to employers than it used to and that is the bottom line. Why do you think the independent schools are all moving over to the IB system, Universities are setting there own entrance exams and employers are having to vet the literacy and numeracy skill of graduates?
I am a teacher and the standard of knowledge and understanding that gets a kid through their exams is way, way lower than when I was at school. Sorry, but blame the government (going back to the Tories introduction of the National Curriculum in 1986)
I would rather sell a kidney or take up drug dealing to pay for private education, than send one of my kids to state school. That's hypothetical as I don't have any kids, but I'm not joking.

I did the A-Levels in 2003 with the AS courses, and from my experience in Physics and Chemistry they are GENUINELY a lot easier now than they used to be. I had to work damn hard, had to do private tuition and put lots of time to go from Ds to As.

The problem is that so many people get As these days and there are only so many places at their Uni Courses its harder for admission to choose who to take and who to refuse.

Then this same problem is passed onto their employers, who have a even harder task at hand, to distuingish the hard workers and those are just sheer lucky.

But yeah how do you want people to react, by considering the above?
