first of all, think about what this statement means to you. do u agree with it? can u think of an examples that will help u understand the statement and create a clear, concise, Strong essay? brainstorm some examples that can help u prove the statement true.

for example.... take a toddler. she is crawling around, and wants to walk. but every time she tries, she falls. she can't physically walk yet, her legs are not strong enough. but she is trying. now, do u think that toddler is stupid? do u think "oh, she's trying to walk now. but she can't?" of course not! u think, wow, she has such determination. she is really trying. and you become Proud of that. so even though she hasn't walked yet, u are proud that she has the guts to keep on trying until she Can do it. and when she does it, you are ecstatic! u come out and get a video camera! but, that is the end result. you were proud of her Before she was "successful" at walking, and when she achieved it, it was icing on the cake! but u are not less proud of her before because she couldn't walk. does that make sense? so she was successful in your eyes thru her "journey", her constant try and fail, try and fail, start over again. that journey she's taken is just as wonderful and a learning experience as is the end result.

if u can think of all of ur examples in life, in movies, in school, work, etc, u can think of a lot of great ways to support this topic. make sure you choose a few key, strong examples.

introduce the topic, general info on success, journey, destination
thesis statement: i will be talking about a, b, and c, to prove that this is a journey, not a destination

body:
a
b
c

conclusion: generalize the topic, discuss journey vs destination, etc. conclusatory sentence: restate ur thesis; thru a, b and c, d is proven.

ta da! good luck~
