My son has been left back for the third time in school. He's 18 years old and in the 9th grade. He reads and writes very well and is very articulate. His teachers have often said he has potential but needs to try more. I have done EVERYTHING from tutors, to dicipline, an alternative school, and he does very well for ahile then he goofs off again. He would rather watch videos and talk to his girlfriend. I know he can do better. During the year I ask him if he has homeowrk and how's school. He says okay and gets good marks then he just tanks after a while. I don't know what to do. Any advice guys. Thanks.

I have a 4 year old who will be 5 in September. She misses the deadline in my state to enter kindergarden, but she has been sitting through a pre-school class all year in her daycare center. I know she is ready for Kingergarden. Has anybody had this happen and were you able to get your child tested to enter kindergarden. I have called the school board here, I spoke to somebody and they said they would get back to me. Who knows when that will be, and I am curious if my child has a chance.

His kindergarden school started reading with flash cards and not with spellings and sounds. Now he is going to take admission in level 1 but unable to develop his reading skills through sounds.

My friend's daughter eats finger foods on her own. But if the food requires a fork or spoon, her parents feed her. Her Dad told me she drops food and makes a mess. Should they give her a bib and teach her, until she can do it on her own? I have worked in Pre-school before, the teacher had the children feeding themselves at meal times. Is it possible she may have a learning delay in a certain area of development? Help appreciated.

I have worked in a preschool for over 5 yrs. I would like to write some sort of letter to the parents of the kids in my care. What would be good to put in it? I really enjoy the parents and job...just there are no more opportunities to advance with the company so its time to move on

i have a four year old son who will be going to pre school this september. i bought him a workbook to get a jump start on his letters and writing in general. he knows very well how to do circles, straight lines and zig zags, but at the moment, he is having a really hard time with his letters. he got through the letter Aa wonderfully, but after that, he is having a hard time with the other ones. every letter is pre traced for my son and he gets through that great, but can not do it himself without the letter already been traced. he does straight lines and circles instead. what are some fun games i can do with him to help him do the letters better? he does not know how to write his own name yet, should i be teaching him that as well, or learn the letters first then move on the names?? i am stuck in a rut because he seems to be bored of the workbook and not feeling challenged maybe? or this too mcuh for him? please help!

I have 3 1/2 yr old twins ( who will turn 4 in October) who I would like to enroll in some sort of preschool program this coming fall, however, every program I have come across requires them to be from a low income family, homeless, have problems speaking english, or have special needs--all of which they are not. Where can I find an educational program in Dallas, Tx, or surrounding area, that will take children who are under 4 yrs without requiring any special circumstances?

I have 2 lil girls a 1 1/2 yr old and a 3 1/2 yr old. My 3 1/2 yr old just started going to a Montessori. Before she had always wanted to go to school, but now that she has been their only 4 days she tells me she does not want to go anymore and it breaks my hart to see her cry because she does not want to stay. The teacher told me that she has a problem keeping her hands to herself and that she has hit some of the other kids! I will admit at home she does fight with her lil sister but I always make sure to put a stop to it and explain to her that she is not suppose to do that. Yestarday I dropped her off and I noticed that their was this one lil girl about her age that was teassing her because I was carrying her into school. Today when I dropped her off I stayed in my car and watched her and I did see her fight with that same lil girl! My daugther complains that this lil girl fights with her and I have noticed the lil girl is a bit of a bully. What should I do?
