Dear Friends

My son got his SAT scored today and here is what he has received

750 on Math out of 800
700 on Reading out of 800
690 on Writing out of 800 and
a total of 2140 out of 2400.

Is this considered a good score to get int a decent university?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ram

I am taking a psychology class. I love most of my classes and I am generally very passionate about learning.

Its not that I dont enjoy the context of what we are learning, but the professor is AMAZINGLY BORING!

We are required to read the chapters on our own. We have to read becuase at the start of each class we are given a quiz. (WHich is not my complaint at all. I think its great - it helps me realize what I need to study more for the big tests)

THE PROBLEM? All my professor does is read the chapter, directly from the book, through out the whole class. There is no discussion. If we have questions we need to see her in her office or e-mail her. So the entire class consists of her reading us something that we've already read on our own. (I am not the only one who cant stand this class)

Because attendance is required and part of our grade, I need to attend. But its TORTURE sitting there for two hours listening to the reading. How can I make the time go by faster??

Do you think that the prevalence of text messaging and shortcut spelling is making poor spellers of the high school generation? Or is it just online? (I know it's not because I see resumes of people who have no concept of grammar and spelling.)

I believe the following speaks for itself. Shouldn't a sophomore in high school have better composition and grammar skills than this? I'm not being insulting and I could care less about her political views but is there something seriously wrong with our public education system?

"ok heres what i think about the republicans i might be 16 years old but i keep up with whats happening to my country and if our president keeps up what hes doing we are all in the long run screwed but i am a sophmore in high school and whell if it affecting me then how is it affecting my parents and grtand parents then how will it effect my children and me in the futrure ?? I think that if we pull out of iraq now then we might get some where ,but if we stay over there then we are like i said were SCREWED ."

Ok I went in for my interview on October 11th for 11 a.m. and while there i was interviewed, fingerprinted, filled out about 6 single papers, a 80 question medical assessment, and around a 50 page application book which included W-2 tax forms. Today I received a letter in the mail informing me I was hired with them effective Oct 27, and to report for orientation on October 29th. The position is for casual. Do you think its for Casual Carrier. I am currently 19 years old. About how much per hour will I make as a casual worker? What should I expect at orientation? Please inform me of all that you know. Thanks so much and it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm in an online AP US history class. I'm interested in US history, but the class is killing me.

Now, a big part of this class for me was learning how to take a class. It's taken me eight weeks with the heavy workload, but I've figured it out. Now the problem is that I don't remember anything from the previous 8 weeks, and we're not going to have a break any time soon. Essentially, the class is up to about 1820 and I'd have to start over from the beginning. I don't remember anything from the last few weeks and I don't think I could handle the double workload. I've been diagnosed with ADHD but all the meds did was make me sleepy and give me a headache, so I quit those. However, I still have a hard time sitting still, especially when faced with a task this daunting.

To really learn everything I would have to double my courseload for the next two months, which in addition to being really tough would also probably scrw up my mental timeline...what do I do?

I already left and came back.

I messed up my recent years in high school. This is my starting 5th year in high school and I am still a softmore. My guidense counselor told me that I might not even make it in time if I use the rest of my few years allowed in high school. There isn't enough time to complete all the courses required. I don't want to drop out to take the ged. And I don't want to go to college when I'm in my 20s. I know my grades are very bad. Not because I don't have the knowledge to pass the class. But the modivation.. Now I'm trying my best. A little late but I'm still trying. Is there anything I can do to go to college faster? Or go to college while I'm still in high school?

I love to write- I write as much as I can, well, as often as I can find a good subject. I love to write funny or sarcastic characters with a moving, suspenseful, action packed plot. Trouble is, I can't find an idea that I really love. I get twenty pages into a story and then it sits somewhere and collects dust. I have over 100 projects in the making.

My problem is that I need a good plot idea or story starter. I've been through so many I'm sick of starting over, but I can't drag myself back to old ideas. My dream is to write and publish a great novel, and I need your help!

So post all plot ideas, character ideas, or story starters that are not too silly or dark. I don't like writing horror stories. Oh, I'm 13 if that helps.

My boyfriend has trouble reading, he's 23 and has had a very stressful past moving around, a broken home, and bad influences that interfered with him staying on a good track all throughout his years in school. Even though his life has improved, the result of his past is affecting him now. When he reads he will often mix up vowels or skip letters all together when pronouncing the word. For example he especially has trouble pronoucing the ending -tion, like the word demonstration. He will pronouce it
demon-STRAIGHT-EYE-ON. He wants to improve and I want to help in any way i can. Anyone with any recommendations on what he can do to improve and what i can do to help, i would love to hear them. Thanks!

Also of course since he has trouble reading he definately has trouble spelling as well any suggestions for improvement here i would also appreciate. :)

I am trying to help him the best way I can but would really like some tips on getting him to remember what it is we are studing. I go over a certain piece of information then I will ask him a question about it and he has no idea what the answer is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
