I'm interested in finding reference material, both online and other, for researching the price of everything from food to clothing and commodites in Victorian Britian. Looking for prices in 1850 but could make use of data from earlier or later years within the range of 1800 to 1900.

Should I write "The baby learned to walk." or "The baby learned how to walk." What is the difference? Is one more correct than the other? Is one more formal, one more casual?

My 12 yr old daughter must carry all her books to and from school for her 7th grade classes, as they do not have lockers. Her pack is well in excess of 30 lbs. I know it is so, because I have carried 20-25 lb bags of fertilizer, in my work in a garden center daily for many years. It is quite possibly even 40 lbs. Is that legal?

not just in school but when they have lessons on computers and any other place, all they teach is spanish, portuguese, french and other european languages. there's nothing wrong with that but it wouldn't hurt to have some kiswahili or other african languages around too. there are people who are interested no matter how rare people speak those languages. i'm taking up spanish this year which i've wanted to take for some while but i would love to have learned a language that comes from Africa as well.

it makes me a little depressed 'cause that's the age when you should be having fun, earning money and be happy about what you can do with it. i'm done with one diploma but unfortunately you also have to think about the financial aspect of your life, not just what gives you pleasure.
