I have a child in Special ED and I am trying to sign him up for homeschooling. He is in the 9th grade and law requires you have a Bach. degree to homeschool 9-12. I only have an Assoc. degree but his current skills are only about 3-4 grade level. (He is capable of so much more, the reason i am removing him and wanting to school myself) I am not getting answers from the BOE about doing this, if anyone can help with some legalities on how i can remove him from school, any way possible. He is 15and we live in Tennessee if that helps. thanks in advance!

I'm 15 and homeschooled. I have a normal life I go out with friends and everything else, But this one women who I knew all my life is threating to call the social services cause she thinks I dont get out enough but thats totally not true and she thinks this just because I dont spend a lot of time with her son anymore that I dont get out at all. Should we take her threat seriously or is she just trying to scare us?

I have been homeschooled since 4th grade ( before that i went to private school) and now im in 10th grade and im wanting to go to public school, but i am painfully shy. I dont talk to people i dont know unless they talk to me first, If i have to make a speech or something in front of the class, i totally freak out. I dont wanna be the person people see hiding in a dark corner. Is there anything i can do to become less shy before i go to school? Any tips for the first day?

How do they enter the science fair, spelling bee, and other local/state/national competitions? I have looked at our districts information and it says they need to be a registered student but I know that homeschooled kids do go to the spelling bee. Any info would be great.

Do homeschooled people get out of their lessons and stuff that day? Or is it up to the parent or whoever does the homeschooling?

Okay, I'm so sick of school, it's too much of a pain.
I truly am unhappy going to school and being critized by a bunch of nasty brats.I hate having to get up in the morning for 6 hours of boring crap.

I hate having to get ready and putting on make-up, don't say I don't have to do that, cause I know I don't have to, but if I don't then I feel very self conscious, I wish I didn't, but I do.
I want to go the University of Texas because that's were my family and I are moving after I finish highschool.

Right now I really don't care about partying or hanging out a lot with friends because I can do that after high school.
But I really want to get homeschooled until senior year and so I was wondering if anyone had good resources.
My mom has enough to get me a teacher but that's a lot and I tend to be pretty conservative.

Also, I've heard of place where you pick up your homework and then do it at home or something like that so please, help me out.

Why do so many people who have no credentials (people who have not been homeschooled and do not homeschool their children) seem to think that homeschooled children are socially retarded??? I was homeschooled for the last two years of high school. I have always been very shy, but I became more social after I was homeschooled. If you don't know what you're talking about why are you commenting? And any who have had good experiences with homeschooling are welcome to comment to further my point. TY in advanced.

isn't it kind of sad missing out in highschool fun like the prom, football games, pep rallies, dances, socializing, gossiping, signing yearbooks, graduating? what if you get into a fight with your parents, wouldn't that be weird? but i guess there are positives too...
