I think you would do well to contact a homeschooling support group in your area or find one online to start looking through all the information. What you are asking doesn't really make sense. Parents need no qualifications for homeschooling in Maine. I don't know what you mean by "prefer Christian based"--do you think you need to sign up with something? It's unclear.

How much is involved? Again, this isn't clear. You need to read the laws first http://janus.state.me.us/legis/statutes/20-A/title20-Asec5001-A.html . Are you asking about what you need to do to legally start homeschooling? Or about what is involved in actually homeschooling? Again, a local support group will give you the opportunity to hear from various people and see how each family is unique.

It almost sounds like, though, that you are looking for some sort of an umbrella program to sign up with? You don't have to. But again, a local homeschooling support group will be able to tell you what's available in your area. http://www.home-school.com/groups/ME.html

I am not sure about in Maine...I'm sorry. However, I do know that there a School magazines (yes, they have them) that include the local schools, programs including etiquette, ballroom dancing, fencing, dancing, etc...), tutoring centers (such as Sylvan), and good home-schooling programs. You can use public schools, private schools, and home-scooling programs for home-school.
